C-182 tank cross feeding

MT12

A cub guy asking a 182 question (for a friend) : Can you select the left tank and run it dry, then switch to the right tank and work off it, or will they always have some cross feeding. This is a 1979 Q model, with left, right, both and off. Will it cross feed on the ground with the selector set to off?

Thanks in advance.

My 53 180 does not crosdfeed except in the "both" position. Ive heard of some crossfeeding in "off" but mine does not.

I believe my '75 180 will cross feed in the off position but it's been lots of years since I paid any attention. My valve stays on Both unless maintenance requires Off. I never fly it on one side only. For lots of years my parking spot in town was right wing low and at the cabin is left wing low. Cross feeding on the ground happens quickly but equalizing in the air happens quickly, too.
