Some presidents play golf, some jog, who knows what else they do to unwind. But suppose the president had a Cub and wanted to fly it on nice days to relax. What do you think the secret service would have do to in their duty to protect him?

I read that Dwight D Eisenhower learned to fly in a Stearman in Hawaii. He also used to travel around in a Navion. And likely he flew in L-4 Cubs at some point, perhaps after D-Day. That's before he was President, so it wasn't an early version of Air Force One. Some Bird Dogs have an external step called an Eisenhower step. Someone will have to fill me in on that one. Didn't George Bush fly in the reserves? -- Please no politics, just Cubs and the like.
they would need to make sure his Cub didnt have legacy wheelgear
No politics intended! I was thinking more about images of agents stuffing themselves into a Cub; certainly there wouldn’t be F-16 escorts! Pursuit PA-18s?
Biden owns a 1967 Corvette which he was not allowed to drive on public streets while VP and for some period after. When Jay Leno did a story on it they drove it on the Secret Service training facility.

One President owns his own Boeing 757. When that is very lightly loaded, it performs very Cub like. Well, a 2000 foot runway would be more than adequate.

I imagine the Secret Service would come unglued. And the TFRs!![]()
No way, the SS wouldn't allow it, period. If he persisted, they'd back off, but also withdraw ALL protection, that's their leverage. I flew over the late Joe Clarks 7500' long paved strip a few hours ago, I remember him saying they'd had 757's in there, no sweat. Over 6K high. Saw a C-17 aimed there once also, flaps and gear down anyway, and descending that direction.

43 flew F 102s in the Texas ANG out of Ellington AFB near Houston in the early 70s. Guarded the Gulf Coast against the Mexican AF - - -

Not to be contrary, but I believe that's a Stearman in the Pacific Air Museum on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor that George trained in.

First thing they would say is: Don't fly with anyone that knows Peter Brown or Glenn G.!
And require the biannual form Capt. Cub.
I don't know where you've been me lad, but I see you won first Prize!
Biannual with Capt Cub. That’s an interesting thought. First... has anyone of the non-female gender actually flown in the same airplane as him? I’ve never seen it...

“After seeing the evidence, I'm convinced the flight logbook is authentic and proves that John F. Kennedy trained with Embry-Riddle. He had a love of aviation and coastal areas, so it all makes sense. “Douglas Brinkley (Presidential Historian)
JFK soloed a Cub near Miami during the war, I think.

Let’s hear the story- don’t need the politics, just the story. Sounds aviation-related, so should be on-topic...
Hey Peter---what`s also interesting I got my "bi-annual" in the J-3 with Kathleen when we flew it last month from New Hampshire to Florida---17 flying hours, 8 fuel stops, 1100 miles---no battery no starter no generator ---dead reckoning ??? what`s that---call me if u get to Daytona---603 205-4727---Capt Cub
If I were president I would tell the SS to pile in the Blackhawk so they could follow and land where I do while we are all having fun shooting coyotes. I am sure it would later dawn on me that they had the right equipment and I would abandon the cub and hop on the blackhawk and then they could check me out on the use of a minigun.
For all we know Eaton already does boar hunt from his Blackhawk with any number of former Presidents.
