wheels & tars

Saw a pretty nice skywagon this weekend,
with 10" Grove wheels & double-puck brakes,
and 850x10 Desser smoothies.
Looked like a pretty nice set-up.

Sweet!

Denny has those wheels and tires waiting to go on his 180. Last I heard they were TSO'd but not STC'd yet so the actual install was under a field approval. Would love to know how that owner got his paperwork right.

After I researched that very thing, and found that it was not (yet) STC'd,
I edited my post to make the airplane a bit more anonymous,
as I dunno if the owner went through the paperwork drill or not.

I am pretty sure that Desser's 850x10 & 31x10 smoothies are approved for use with the AKI 10" wheels,
I believe that STC just calls out tires sizes- not manufacturer.

The ABI-1010 wheels are STC'd for 29x11-10 4 ply or 850x10 6 ply tires. No mention of specific manufacture. I recall seeing Desser had some smooth tires in those sizes coming out.
