I’ve got some time in this one. N13041. Used to ferry it from Vermont to Long Islamd and Spruce Creek for the owner. In the early 2000’s The UBA is very rare. The only side by side open cockpit WACO. 041 still had the Johnson bar brakes on the throttle. Push fore and aft for throttle, pull down for braking.

It's a UAB, this one has not flown since 1947 I think. Been in restoration for a while. I should have wings all done by January some time, bound for Oshkosh this summer. The fuselage was completed in Stewart Systems a couple years ago. The guy who did the work had to stop due to some medical issues. The owner approached us at our booth at Airventure in 2019 looking for help finishing it up; I was teaching covering that week. Turned out, he was just 20 miles up the road from me here in California. I have been doing the work in my shop at my home. Here's a shot of the other upper wing and the finished fuselage. My work is just the wings and center section. My 2+2 paticiently waits in line to be covered this winter.

That’s very cool. What ever it’s called. I still think it’s UBA. WACO use the first letter for engine type. U is Continental R is Warner, K for Kinner . I think Z is Jacobs. Etc. second letter is wing style. Third letter is fuselage. So for example the UBA and the UBF are the same engine/wing but the fuselage is different. NC13041 started life as an RBA with Warner power.

You want to get the cold shoulder go to the Waco meet in Hamilton, Ohio and announce you want to build an experimental category taperwing. Waco people are like people the own thoroughbred horses. They're a cult of devoted people that guards their brand. They know where every Waco that exists on the planet is and what the status is. They're pretty special airplanes. Good looking work Marty.
