Those Darn 1A200 Props are Heavy

I am a sissy and hate holding up a 1A200 McCauley prop on an O-360 because they weigh 40 lbs and the prop flange bushings don't stick out far enough to hang the prop on while getting the bolts started like on an O-320. When I was having to do this on a Super Cub on amphibs Thrustline Mark told me a trick but I forgot to post it. Took some old 1/2" bolts and cut the heads off, turn the end down to a bullet and cut a screw driver slot in them. Now when removing the prop I remove two bolts, insert my bullets, remove the remaining bolts and slide the prop off. Installing is the reverse. My worst nightmare was to drop one of these props. Thanks Mark, love new tricks and tools.

Yup, helps when swapping transmissions and such by yourself. Work smarter not harder

Need to remember to add a pair of both size bolts to my next order from spruce. for 0-320 and 0-360 sizes AN ?6 and AN??

Any advantages to them being very long? Say over 2”??

I do a version of that with instruments. If you replace an instrument in a crowded panel, screw two threaded rods, about 12" in length, into two of the panel screw holes in the item. You can get them to the backside of the instrument hole fairly easy and then use them to pull the instrument into place.
