Sliding Seat?

As I age and lose flexibility I'm having trouble squeezing my fat ass between the door frame and the seat back.

What can you tell me about the sliding front seat? How does it install? How much travel? Where would I buy the parts?

Edit: It's a homebuilt PA-12 with seaplane doors. I believe that the seat frame is a standard PA-18 type but I'll have to confirm that.

Backcountry seat. The pedestal and seat bottom have strips of UHMW plastic for sliders. The stirrups to keep them togeter are very simple. The center tube has holes and a locking pin you can see in the second photo. I have over 6" of adjustment range. It works better than my old Supercub seat. This would be handy in a -12!

I once worked on a -12 that had a field approved Cessna seat up front. It also had the left and right doors. Interesting to see the seat travel and front & rear loading possibilities with those rails.

That's very slick, Stewart.

I just took some photos of my seat and frame. As you can see it would require quite a bit of re-engineering to make your system work. I'd probably need someone to custom build something.

Larry, that looks like a stock PA-12 seat arrangement on a replaced and/or modified bungee truss. It might be possible to put in a PA-18 seat arrangement?

I had Cessna rails and a fully articulated 206 front seat in my 12 and it is the" last word" in a seat for the Super Cruiser ( Perfect in an 18 as well, better set up then only the top half sliding) Lots of used rails availability, and a Skyhawk front seat would be easy to find.
Also makes it much easier to load a big passenger into the rear seat! Rig the seat rails so the seat comes all way back to the rear stick socket, so when flying alone simply hop into the seat thru that much larger opening, grab the V brace and pull yourself forward exactly like you would in a 185. Pull the floorboards and 20 mins Tig welding in some tabs to fasten the rails to,

How did you reinforce the floor to mount the tracks? When building my -12 I looked into that option but given the seat's relationship to the rear stick it didn't make sense. Even with an adjustable Supercub seat I never moved it to get in or out. I don't move my Cub's seat, either. In my Cessna I slide the seat forward until the cushion hits the forward door post. Try getting out of that without sliding the seat!
