    Panel

    Necessary Items for cub flights.
    !. Altimeter
    2.Compass
    3. Turn coordinator
    4. Good Inspection flash light with 2 AA cell batteries
    5. One single cell inspection flash light.

Try flying 5 hours in the dark without these items

Cub leaving the north slope oil fields headed home to PAFA. Field ground circuit breaker atop smokes which takes Delco Alternnator off line.

Small lead acid battery goes TU. I always proped this cub.

    Basic items needed for flight.

My pilots had to learn to fly on the gauges with only these items.

When the electrons quit flowing, go back to the basics and know the altitude of the highest peak in your way and give it 1000'

Practice, this once a month or don't leave the ground unless the sun is shinning everywhere .

What happens to your turn coordinator when your small lead acid battery goes TU?

A venturi powered T&B will get you home.

My iPhone and Garmin Pilot would get me home. With a battery on-board a GDL the HSI and synthetic vision functions would remain functional. Flight instruments on my iPhone are impressive. I'm still surprised we don't have bluetooth engine instruments by now.

Myself? My G3X Touch uses a TCW battery backup that's independent of ship's power. And I have the iPhone. Double backup.
