From an email I received (I’d preordered a set for a customer):
We are reaching out to inform you that, after continued testing and engineering modifications, we have decided not to produce the FAA-approved lightweight safety ropes at this time. The safety ropes were first approved as a minor non-required component following pull tests by a reputable third-party company. Due to COVID 19 complications, we were unable to view the testing in person. To qualify our production line, we conducted in-house testing and found that the product failed multiple tension tests. The titanium attach bracket was cutting into the rope causing it to fail well below the rope’s engineered breaking point. We attempted to modify the design for this weakness and have attached pictures and test results showing our various modifications, if you would like to take a look. The final version, although extremely strong, was a non-desirable design and did not meet our weight savings goals.
