Oops! It wasn't Narraganset Bay, the Mayflower was in Buzzards Bay between New Bedford and Naushon Island. About 10 or 15 years ago I saw a large square rigger under full sail being chased by a large maxi-sloop in the same location under a strong breeze. That was a once in a lifetime sight to see.

The "Lady Washington", based in Aberdeen Washongton, is a modern replica of an actual 18th century ship.
It was used in the filming of the Pirates of the Carribean movies.
It is a regular visitor to the annual Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend WA,
often along with another old-timey sailing ship.
You can pay to go for a short sail on her,
sometimes the two ships go out together & have a "battle" complete with cannon fire.
Pretty cool to see from above.

The Navy's Constitution is based at the Charlestown navy yard in Boston. Every year they take it out in the harbor to turn it around. One time while this was happening, I just happened to be landing at Logan Airport flying directly over the top of the Constitution. Quite a sight.

Us pilots in the Puget Sound area frequently see SSBN's headed into port, or out to sea from their Bangor WA base.
Ship, submersible, ballistic missile, nuclear.
Pretty awesome, esp when you frealize that even just one of them has more war-making capability than most countries.
"Peace through superior firepower".
