Fuel Caps are difficult/impossible to remove and replace

Sometimes a shop will put one of those toilet tank gaskets around the tank neck, and it can interfere. I think the little rubber doily is supposed to be flat - maybe 3/32" thick rubber.
 
Yes you are correct Bob, and I do have the toilet tank gasket but have verified it is not interfering. The caps are straight from the factory so probably just need some lube. Going flying tomorrow so will grease it up then.
 
Sometimes you have to take a screw driver and spread the lock tabs away rom the cap as well. I see this on a regular basis.
