Sutton exhaust heat muff

Has anyone run a Sutton exhaust without the heat muff. Any problems experienced re heat in the cowling and on starter motor/ alternator. I have just had my Sutton ceramic coated to reduce some of the radiant heat from the header pipes onto my new carbon fibre cowl rails. I rarely use the heater and the muff alone weighs 2.5 pounds. Losing 2.5 pounds off the nose is gold for me.
