Face mask on airlines, this wil not end well.

American is now joining United, Delta, and JetBlue. Has anyone stopped to think what will happen if there is a rapid decompression. Remember Southwest 1380 when the passengers couldn't figure out how to properly put on an oxygen mask, throw in a facemask that'll help.

In northern Canada the two major airlines (First Air and Canadian North) threatened to drastically cut back on their flights because they had next to no passengers. The government is paying them a million dollars a week to keep flying the freight. And they are.

We've been told that anything counts as a "mask" - a scarf will do. Gives them an excuse not to serve that tiny bag of peanuts and half-can of Coke.

Come on. They already to a dance showing how to don the o2 mask, they can add in the 'pull off your cloth mask prior to placing the O2 mask on' line.

at some point Darwin's theory will improve the population if we just stop trying to put warning labels for total stupidity.

Wonder when the props will have warning labels not to stick your head in rotation area while running

I am hoping no one suggests guards to prevent you from sticking your finger into the propeller.

This is such a rare happening, that it should be of no concern at all.

I may be mistaken but I do believe Oxygen will go through any medical or home made mask just fine, otherwise there would be piles of passed out folks around. time to worry about something else...

Once I was told to make sure my Joes were wearing their overwhites and to be sure that each one had on a bright orange reflective vest. Sigh

We might as well have Health Security Theater to go along with the Terrorism Security Theater from TSA before you board. Masks may not be effective, they may make things worse but seeing others wear a mask will give many in the public a warm fuzzy. I would say at least half the people who wear them into the store do so incorrectly. They pull them out of a pocket, touch the whole thing and walk right into the store and touch everything with those very same hands. Then many grab the mask right by the part by the nose and pull it down to talk and pull it back up, and then go touch everything. A friend gave me a hard time for not wearing a mask, after watching him lower it twice to talk to me I asked when he cleaned it last. "Never" was the reply. That didn't give me any warm fuzzies at all.

jprax, It's all about the "warm fuzzies". If the powers that be think everyone is complying with the "warm fuzzie" edict, then all is good.

Just saw a bit on the tv news about some airports and/or airlines installing temperature scanners.
Anyone who's too hot to trot will be denied boarding.

I finally managed to scrounge an N95 mask from a guy I know.
I wear it to go into the grocery store.
Don't know if all the masking is gonna help,
but I felt like I was getting dirty looks being un-masked so decided to fall into line like the rest of the sheep.
TV news sez Costco will be requiring everyone to wear masks.

Funny... the local QFC grocery store I go to makes a big deal of wiping down the handles on the carts & baskets before re-using.
Also very thoroughly wiping down the self-checkout stations.
They've got one-lane aisles, and distancing marks for checkout lines.
And they just started a one door in / one door out protocol--
before this, only one door was used, for both entrance & exit.
Looks like also markings for a line to wait to get in, but I haven't seen any line yet.

The local Safeway store wipes the carts & baskets, but no one way aisles,
and no wiping down at the self-checkout.

I've heard it described that face masks don't protect you from other people, but protect other people from you.

The analogy I got was that if somebody walked up and pissed on your leg, you'd get wet whether you were wearing pants or not. But if they were wearing pants (zipped up), then you'd be clean and dry.

I have no idea if that's accurate, but I thought it was a funny analogy!

Compare that to Nunavut, where people have become very complacent because we have only one confirmed case:

Local store is about the size of an average 7-11 in the south. They SAY they don't allow more than 40 people (WTF!) in the store at one time, but this is not monitored in any way.
There are no specific shopping hours for old folks.
Inuit (Eskimos) have been given masks, but don't use them. "Others" (mostly white folk) have to get their own N95 masks, but none are available.

Used N-95 mask while sandblasting my fuselage spent time getting it tight but when looking in the mirror my face had A LOT of dust streaks where they are not effective in stopping everything the air we need to breath to live. Stopped a lot of stuff but not close to all of it.
