I am curious how the 3rd seat adds 8 lbs. It is two tubes under the floor. I don't ever install the seat belt lugs because the owners just want the heavier capacity baggage floor.
And I’d add the tail clean out too. Really handy when rigging the airplane and working on it down the road

Did you look under the U channel in front of the right D window. Everything can look fine and that tube can be like swiss cheese behind that channel.
Did you remove it or how did you look underneath it?
I’ll talk it over with my welder. Why does the right side have issues and not the left Steve?
The right side has a U channel welded around the tube with no way for moisture from the 4 PK screws that hold the D window in to escape.

The left side just has a channel butted up to it so the whole tube is exposed.

Yep, exact same issue.Ahh makes sense. I am more familiar with the PA-12. Reminds me of the bottom of the door frame on the 12.
I am getting ready to start on the wings. Set up my WagAero wing rotator. One of the few things I like from them.
Who has the best bang for the buck on leading edge skins? I am going to replace them all.
Leaning towards Dakota Cub 23 gallon fuel tanks and delete the header tanks.

I decided not to do the weld on float fittings. I am not float rated and am not planning on putting it on floats. Plus it adds weight. Not sure if I am going to do the third seat as it adds 8 lbs. I am doing the H brace in the tail as part of the Tost tow hook installation. Still debating the gross weight increase STC. It’s expensive and I don’t really need it for my mission.
There’s no way I’d do this much work to a Cub rebuild and NOT install the gross weight STC.

Nice ! Is that a data plate restoration or a total EAB?
What cam followers are you using? $600 for new Lycoming DLC units seems like good insurance to me after replacing several cams.
I didn’t send them out. I was waiting to see if the cam was airworthy. Good call on the DLC! Where’s the best place to get them Aircraft Specialties?
Post the part number when you get them.
Thanks
