Trailing edge repair

Anchorage, AK
I don’t have the old Piper service bulletins handy. I have a J-3 in my shop that has a damaged trailing edge next to the butt rib. I have trailing edge material but don’t want to go out to the aileron bay. It’s OK to splice the trailing edge correct? I would really appreciate responses from other IA’s or people with copies of the SB’s.

Actually Univair has all the old SB/SL. That’s pretty nice of them! Doesn’t cover what I want though. AC43.13 isn’t much help. I’ll do what I think is right. Not a primary structure anyway.

The trailing edge of the aileron is spliced with a piece inside id and #4 PK screws. I would copy that. I have never seen any Piper data on this subject.
