Say again the price of that Jeep...

I traded my Wrangler for a newer nicer BMW X5. I still can't believe it everyday that I'm driving in climate controlled leather comfort.

My first one was a 41' military (by Ford) that I bought in a junkyard in 61' for $40.00. Got me all through high school. Have owned several late 40's CJ2A's, a CJ3B, a couple early 70's wranglers and 2 cherokees. None since the late 70's, but learned a lot because they all gave me something to work on at the time. Fond memories about the girls too. Remember one time in late November when the warmest place on the veh. was on the hood outside. Just an old man's dreams of long ago.

Resale value? below is a photo of what my FJ looked like when I bought it, bone stock for $2500.00
The one pictured is now listed for $75k
Ive probably spent about that on mine since I’ve owned it and I’d be hard pressed to get $30k for it.
Doh!
shoulda listened to my dad..

Sold. Do you take two party post dated out of town checks? I’ll take delivery Monday.

Any of you guys running 31's on your Jeep? :)

I've had way too many jeeps, currently on #14. Started in high school with a 1978 CJ-5, I've done a frame off restoration on a 1976 CJ-5 and engine swaps. It's a disease I think. I've dug jeeps out of the river bed and I've also dug an airplane out of a sand bar on the Brazos, actually I helped Steve P dig my plane out, I don't think he's still mad . Here's my current, like it so much that this is the second one just like this, use it to work out of, can't beat it on the ROW,

My first car was a 64 Scout bought off the for sale lot on Elmendorf AFB. Memories?? Far too many to list, including losing a tooth on the steering wheel while 4 wheeling. Scout was followed by two Land Cruiser FJ’s which I loved. Few years ago I thought I’d buy one for old times sake - only to realize they’d become collector items with prices like Oliver mentioned.....

I agree that these Jeeps can get a bit addictive. I've had five Wranglers, a few Cherokees, and seven Jeepsters. I decided last spring it was time for another Jeepster to play with and ended up with this one. The body is surprisingly solid and the half cab and auto transmission are kind of rare.

Bought that one off the original owner in 1997. He bought it and an 18’ airstream the same day in 1969 when he got the contract to start logging the I80 route in Northern California. I’m still kicking myself I didn’t have the cash money to buy both. Funny guy he wouldn’t sell it tell I promised I wouldn’t take off the NRA sticker, it’s still there.

I always kinda wanted one of those VW "Things":
1973-VW-Thing-848x636.jpg
Mind you, I grew up in Brazil, where the Jeeps were made by Willis, and were as common as dollar bills... This "Thing" was seriously cool! LOL

Nowadays, I would absolutely love to have a Meyers Manx dune buggy! Like this

or this

But my other half loves trucks. Specifically, 50's era 5-window Chevy trucks. So If I ever do get a "play with" vehicle, it's probably going to be one of those.

Rubicon road trip to AK a lifetime ago. Kluane Lake and Taylor Highway. A duffle bag expedition in a rag top Jeep comes close to the definition of freedom. Funny how like wired aviators can be. Fun post Jim!
