WAD 2019 It is Time

It is time for the WAD once again. It is also time for it to come to an end. Yes after much discussion myself and Jen have decided that this is our final WAD here in New Hampshire. We are concerned for safety and the fact that it needs to be kept fresh and personal. You know you build the Airfield and hold the first WAD where 8 planes show up. It is just as exciting as 48. As it grew we evolved. Much help from friends to make it all work. I have reached out to see if we can move it to another location and let someone else take the reigns. News to follow.

So 10 October through 13 October we have the WAD once again with flyouts to Maine and through Northern New Hampshire and Vermont.

We once again will have one night of Barbecue. This will need to be prepaid and we will do so through pay pal or a mailed check.

Unfortunately Cub Fest 2019 is the same weekend at the factory and I am preliminarily committed I'm told. Dam! If it changes, I'll be WAD bound.

I read this the other day and just didn’t have the words.

The WAD was much of my initiation into the northeast group, and most of the stories and times of WAD events was before my participation. But the experience has not been lost on me. With it going into the history books after this year like John Graham’s did, again before me, I will miss it deeply.

Had I known in the late 80’s and early 90’s that you guys flew like this, I never would have taken a hiatus. There would have been no reason to. It says a lot when you can fly a rent-a-cub up the weekend before to check out the place, meet a couple guys working (John and Rene) who say, sure, come on up next weekend it’ll be fun.

Then show up only to have one fuel tank split open overnight and empty its contents into the wing that had no drain holes. Ahh. Memories are often made with people that offer solutions and solve problems, and so it began.

What John and Jen brought to the table when his idea of having a fly-in came to fruition is simply the best expression of who they are.

We will miss their gift to us all after this fall has passed. But as always, the WAD event will be remembered and cherished.

May this fall be the most meaningful one of all.

Well, John and Jen three years with no plane and can not say enough about the group. I flew every day all three years with new friends each time. I would not miss the final WAD. I will say this though, I will be there this year in my own Super cub. Chip

Hi All
we wanted to have the last shirt a sweatshirt . The 1/4 zips are popular from past WADS. Question with a heavy 12oz and art work the cost will range $33-$35 is this too pricey for a fly in shirt? Let me know. Survey monkey is coming soon and we will need to get the barbecue and shirt sizes going.

I have one single bed for rent in a Air BnB about 1/2-3/4 miles north of the airport, splitting the rental costs among 5 beds. Also possibly an air bed too, if this is the case the costs should drop a bit? So if interested let me know, the cost is $200 for Thursday night till Sunday morning.
I am leaving for vacation this Tuesday Sept 10-18 so I might be slow getting back with you.

I have watched in envy a few years from half the world away and read your posts and look at the pictures and wish I was there but I cannot work out what the letters mean "Weekend Away... something"?
