Is Your Mac (running Safari) Running Slow Since the Server Move?

Folks, I've had two reports - both from Alaska on the same internet provider - of Safari on a newer mac begin super slow accessing the site since we moved. In one case the person installed firefox (likely chrome would have worked also) and it worked fine.

I pulled out my old macbook air and tried it, but it responded just fine.

If anybody else is having similar issues, I'd like to hear about it (no matter what kind of computer).

Thanks for your patience as we work out the kinks!

Works fine for me. Doesn't seem faster or slower. Safari on iMac running Mojave.

Ok more testing. It’s a WiFi issue here. Turn off WiFi and go to cell lte and it works fast normal. Same result on phone safari or SuperCub.Org app. And Mac safari.

Also on MTA wireless in Chugiak. Site is virtually unuseable on both Safari and Firefox.

Interesting... for some switching browsers fixed it. Are you an a Mac or a PC?

Anybody have contact info for MTA and can see what is going on? We are working it from this end as well but it appears all problems are MTA related at this point.

    Thanks!

John, would you mind trying a different browser (if you are using Win 10 - Edge, or Win 7 - Internet Explorer ) Trying to find the common denominator.

Also, you folks with slow problems, are you using any "safe web browsing" tools such as Symantec or AVG?

    Thanks

On my Mac I am running Adblock. But nothing on iPhone. Both work fine at my girlfriends. But dead to slow at my shop. Odd. But Firefox works fine at the shop. It’s a mystery

My old Mac, with Firefox, never missed a beat but my new computer, with Safari, would not load this site (and only this site) after the site moved. Put Firefox on the new Mac and it works fine. I don't understand it but it all works now. I figure it's an MTA issue.

I have not forgotten about this problem, I had hoped it would go away since it makes no sense at all.

If one of you would be willing to try an experiment... If you have more than one user on your mac, go to the other user and try safari (assuming it has not before accessed supercub.org). If not, create a new user, login to that user, and see how safari acts. Still think it could be a caching problem which this would rule out.

    Conspiracy theories:

Under new legislation your provider can and will prioritize NetFlix, Google etc over other sites. I’ve notice a subtle change in access, but not a whole lot. The internet is replacing “Cable TV”. I’m personally not for it but will deal with change. Spectrum was so bad, go rid of it.

For what it's worth, my phone would log on with no problem, using Safari.

I think it has something to do with caching on the newer macs. There are was to disable and enable caching, but the quick test is try a different user.

No real huge difference here, but I did gain some speed when I switched from Firefox to Explorer.

John, that is counter intuitive, but possible. You might try google chrome as well. I would be interested to see the download and upload results you get here: https://www.speedtest.net/

It's funny how I must be the only one using Sabayon Linux and so far no problems. And, it's free. We do have a pretty good internet provider in my area and they changed some things recently so I don't evn have a modem anymore----think it's fiber all the way to the computer.

iPhone and iPad won't load Supercub.org using MTA internet. All other sites work perfectly. My Anchorage office wifi-iPhone works perfectly. My Windows machine is also balky on MTA but it works eventually. Annoying.

Stewart, unless you or somebody is willing to contact MTA about this issue there is not much to be done. Normally, if I contact them they won't care because I am not their customer. I have not heard this issue anywhere else other than MTA. I'd love to get it resolved as there are a lot of Alaskan's visiting SuperCub.Org everyday! It's like 30% of our traffic!

    Thanks

I am having a similar problem with my Internet provider. It seems to work everywhere else I go, except with the provider at Poplar Grove. I will have to contact them.

Has anyone with MTA issues tried deleting cookies. This site loads perfect on all of my Macs, iPhones and iPads all through MTA.

I am embarrassed for not suggesting it! I sort of assumed somebody would have tried it. Hope this works for everybody else!
