So I saw a reference to the “Nate saint bucket drop” online, and a quick search turned up this related article.

Skip the part about the drone hypothesis and just read about the drop and pickup.

While I have no use for this, the concept intrigues my mind. Has anyone on here used or tried this?
You surely don’t want to invite a moose stall but I would think the circles would have to be pretty tight?
According to the Saints, it worked very well..

FWIW the story of Nate Saint is pretty interesting,
he was an early pilot for MAF.
I've read at least one book about it.

Awesome! Thanks for those photos. That’s pretty cool. Would love to see a firsthand demo.

When I first saw that 20+ years ago I wanted to try it. I figured it would be smart to start small so I was going to use the bottom half of a fishing pole and spinning reel with 15 or 20 lb line with a couple tennis balls on the end. I wanted some thing that would break if it got snagged. Never did it.
