    Shelf life of bungees

I have some bungees still in the (opened) box that I got with my cub, but I don’t have any idea how old they are. All I know is that they are newer than the ones that are on the plane. Is it worth the hassle putting them on?

If it helps any, I get over 15 years on a set of bungees, and I get them from whoever buys them from Aircraft Spruce when their date code expires. I fly every day, but not on rough stuff.

almost a half century ago I broke all four on a takeoff, when I failed to see a whirlwind. Landing was uneventful if a little strange feeling. Some clothesline got me home.
