Original Fabric on my Tango Cub project

First time to post something about my project and had some difficulty copying and pasting. Been working on the fuselage off and on for past year. Finished all the mods I’m installing. Just started to take fabric off the wings. This is a true “Barn find”. Hasn’t flown since 1960 and still has original cotton from factory. Found a sign off on the right wing. That’s pretty cool. Disassembling it must be a bit like archeology in the sense that you’re discovering things that nobody has seen in a really long time.

Built in ‘52 and parked in ‘60. Do you know why?

How did the fabric test? I have found 50 year old Irish linen still airworthy after being stored inside.

A buddy of mine had irish linen on the wings of his luscombe that was fine after umpteen-plus years.
Unfortunately the cotton (?) rib stitching started failing.
    So he recovered in stits.
