Working Behind the Unkowing

Steve Pierce

BENEFACTOR
Graham, TX
Installing Steve's gascolator on a Tango Cub. Sometimes removing and installing the fuel fitting at the firewall can be a cinch and sometimes not. There is a reason Piper installed the hardware going forward instead of aft.
Had to use a little southern engenuity to hold the nut on the firewall since I was by myself.

That is where we need that second elbow with variable length mid arm.

Then there is the flap liner tube that is not drilled and cotter pinned and has slid outboard and poking out the fabric. Usually I can use this home made tool for pulling Cessna liner tube out of the saddle but this Tango Cub was modified with a truss under the seat to carry the loads of Cessna spring gear so my tool wouldn't fit. Luckily I could get it in place with my finger. One mod usually effects several other things.

That tool looks like it came off a bicycle handlebar. Cool. Was that the inspiration for it?
