Has anyone been able to track down the military history of your L-18C or L-21? We own one of the few L-18C aircraft to remain in the US and I am trying to track down the military history. I have the build data from Piper and it has our L-18C coming off the line in Dec 1952 in olive drab paint. It disappears into the Army and doesn’t reappear until it was loaned from the Army to the Ft. Bliss flying club in 1958. It is then transferred to the White Sands Missile Range flying club in 1963 still listed with the US Army as the owners. It was sold on a US gov surplus auction in 1972 for a total of $2018.80. . I emailed the U.S. Army Aviation Museum in Ft. Rucker for info but received no reply. I might have to take a road trip down there.
Anyone have any luck tracking down any info on the “lost years” of your military cub? I’ll add some photos of the restoration soon.
