    Hi Dave,
Thanks for you comments. It is too late to change the 2019 raffle, as the Ts and Cs have been published for awhile.

The nature of the raffle has been changing over the last couple of years. We used to have upwards of 80 planes attending, with the peak at 160, so physical attendance was huge. One problem with smaller prizes is that the cost of shipping to individual winners is high. Anyway, we'll keep your thoughts in mind as we design next year's event.

And, thanks for your support of the IAF.

The online ticket sales are closed. I'll be at JC on Friday morning.

    Thanks for your support!

So who was the lucky winner? I kept checking my email yesterday, expecting a congratulatory message on my big win, but it never came! Maybe it went to spam....? Hope you had good weather for everyone that flew in!

    Hello Everyone

I just returned home from Big Creek, and I'll post some more in the next few days.

But right up front, I'd like to thank all of our sponsors, and especially Steve Johnson, who has supported the raffle with his labor, money, IT infrastructure, knowledge, and good advice for years.

Thanks Steve, and thanks also to Laura, who once again got swept into helping out even after the raffle hosting had transferred to the IAF.

    Some quick numbers:

    • 140 breakfasts served
    • 79 airplanes

This was the largest gathering at Big Creek that anyone can recall. The largest breakfast that BCL has served prior to this event was about 70. The BCL caretakers Bernard and Annie, were fantastic, and starting making breakfast at 3 a.m.

Frankly, the event was too large for the Big Creek runway. We had expected about 50 planes. We will not hold the raffle at Big Creek next year. The IAA is working to resolve the indemnification issue, and hopefully we'll be back at Johnson Creek next year.

Thanks for everyone that flew safe, bought tickets, and supported Idaho backcountry aviation and the Lodge.

Easy question, easy answer: The one in the supercub hat or the NBWA hat, with sunglasses on.

Teething stuff. Batteries in both G5s failed. Not legal without them. Took me a week of red tape to get warranty replacements. Left brake went out. One CHT probe failed. Plus some family drama. I will be at New Holstein. Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise!

Bushwheels are on! Just need to do a million more landings.

Well, I'm super late to the party, but will be in and around the Frank for the next month if anyone wants to get together for beers and lies.
