Annual CubCrafters Northeast STOL Basin Harbor (B06)

    Attachment 42508Hi Gang
How about a 3rd annual Northeast STOL, is it too soon to find somebody to beat Jim Crane? I think we all should endeavor to TRY. In ski racing its called "Try & Wanna" You will try and you wanna win.

The early risers are invited to Mountain Bob's for a breakfast of epic proportions, I offered to pay him and he said "NO WAY! Just bring all the airplanes you can find." I do ask we make a donation for this. So Join up at Mountain Bob's place (Brown 1VT

From there we head to Basin Harbor B06 for the STOL. Practice from 9-10:15 and then STOL starts at 10:30. Lets have a bunch of competitors regardless of experience or airplane. Here is a clip from last year:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov_sKifbOOI&t=136s

    https://www.basinharbor.com/dining/t...ll-restaurant/

This is a great event and one that is growing. We even scheduled around Hampton Flea Market Fly in to avoid certain push back from certain people who certainly have certain opinions. baaaahaaa haaa haaaa. I'm still crying
After the STOL, we can all gather at the Red Mill for lunch for those interested and then do some local flying in the area. We can drop in to Symon's 66VT he should have his new Carbon Cub ready to roll and then if I can get permission, we will visit Chip Mather on the lake at Cub Field 47VT. (you will like that one)

As always, we will have CCi prizes and a newly designed traveling trophy to go along with the bragging rights. Come one, come all and tell your friends in all the forums and online. We want ALOT of planes! Good luck and who knows, I might throw my hat in the ring this year.

Cheers to flying & remember bring the cameras

If my memory serves correctly the distinguished gentleman from New York with the blue carbon cub was the big winner last year. I think I remember having the shortest take off but he surely showed us how to land

I know for a fact that the only thing he has eaten since Christmas has been saltine crackers and Fiji water because he is just a mere shadow of his former self.

Also lets not overlook the Pheasant King from Shoreham. He Hasn’t flown for close to a year while patiently awaiting the birth of his new firebreathing beast EX2 that will surely be Flying then.
My hangar mate with the Gcbc has been gutting and stripping and tweaking a certain Citabria that will turn a head or two. Not your dads Gcbc

Then there is the guys that runs them as they do day in and out set to travel across the country, tie downs, tool kits, ropes, boots in case they need them, sleeping bag, tarp, 25 gallons of fuel, we are out to have fun and know we won't win the shortest distances but only by the DQ from the other competitors. Hope to be there!!

Not everyone has the skills for that I know Tom. Here comes a plan B. As of Tuesday Mt. Bob was closed for traffic.

    Plan B

ITS ON! Folks we have been given the use of Harris Field (83K) which is just East of Glens Falls. Its South of Basin Harbor but not real far. It works better for those from the South. Traffic is right hand for runway 4 and left hand for 22. Please do not fly over the homes west of the field. We will be on 122.9

The Rain has killed the Basin Harbor plan. We will have a Grill there, table chairs etc. etc coffee, donuts, hamburgs, hot dogs etc etc for the lunch crowd. We hope all will attend and look forward to a great event. Bring that STOL A Game!

Any concerns or question, call or text me 518-410-9404 also if MT Bob opens for Saturday am, we will still do that early for the breakfast side of this plan.

Looks like about a 24 hour weather window to get it done but it looks pretty good for Saturday. Looks like closest fuel is in KGFL? Who has the local knowledge on fuel price?
Really hoping to be wing man on that new Vermont cub Saturday morning. If the weather gods allow me to leave Maine-The Monsoon State

Also be advised Joe and I fully prepared to bitchslap anyone who comes near us wearing a polo shirt with the collar turned up. Unless it’s a girl, joe says we can’t touch them

Roger will let us know when we can use the hayfield. Remember, it's a crop, not a lawn. Anything over a couple inches and we should leave it alone

To elaborate on Charlie's post, closest fuel is GFL, last reported about 5.15/gal.

Middlebury(6B0) and Ticonderoga(4B6) are $4.8x, and Parlin(2B3) is still going strong at $4.30/gal.
Parlin is always a good stop and make sure to sign the logbook inside to help keep the airport open.

If coming from the south Columbia County (1B1) is advertising $4.46 as well.

6 miles from Glens Falls. If weather is good you’ll hear them out and about, so try and avoid them. The cruise missiles like long straight in approaches to 01, and if departing 01 to head east they will cross Harris airspace.

Couple of towers to be aware of, due to the flight levels we fly at. These highlighted should be the only ones in our critical zone, but naturally be aware of the others if you happen to be really scraping the town.
