My PA-12 has Air Energy 18 gal fuel tanks installed, STC 00805CH. One has begun leaking and needs to be repaired. I took it to Wag-Aero’s Aero Fabricators thinking they could repair it. Unfortunately I received the bad news. Apparently Air Energy fabricated their tanks in such a way that, according to Aero Fabricators, utilizes a sealant inside the tank that doesn’t permit any welding repairs. Does anyone have any experience repairing these Air Energy fuel tanks? If so, how and where was the repair done? I purchased a new replacement tank from Wag-Aero but am interested in either having the Air Energy tank repaired or selling it as is.
