Northwestern Canada had above average temperatures from mid-September through early November. Since then, temperatures have been below average. It was -30C (-22F) this morning and wind chill at -40C (-40F).
Play this carnival of colors outlook that shows forecast temps from normal. Lower 48 gets our cold around Dec 7th.
Not bad today in Fairbanks - -27F - with a little less than 5 hrs of daylight. About time to walk the dog at the airport.

Slight temp inversion here in the hills just North of Fairbanks, -21 here at the house, 1,350’ elevation, valley floor is 433’ at PAFA.

^^^^No wind Mike so the inversion is thick. Winds from south increasing tomorrow to cut off the top of the inversion? Warming some after Dec 6th. Another La Nina winter like 2020-21.
Edit: Near record cold November wx for parts of Alaska - he does a good summary.

Let's see, it hit 64 degrees here in Bozeman today...apparently an all time record, by a significant margin, for the date.
No snow below about 8 K.

^^^^Enjoy it Mike we're sending you an early holiday gift around Dec 7-9

For the last 10 days the TX temps have averaged around 70° higher than my AK home temps. And some folks wonder why people snowbird? I’m not a full-fledged snowbird but I’ll take what I can get!

It's forecast to drop to a bone chilling 52 deg F tonight but warm up to about 82 deg F tomorrow. I don't know if I'll ever see sea level density altitude or the performance that goes with it. (KPHX, AZ).
We saw 55. Really nice!!! It's been raining hard up to today...if it had been cold enough, we'd be up to our Adam's Apple in snow!!! Looks like at least another 10 days of this too!!
I remember more than once when we didn't have snow at Christmas time here, and I can remember feeding cows in the end of May. One year we didn't turn out in June, because we had too much snow and no grass. Weather is always going to do it's thing, no matter what we want it to do!

I go south for the winters now days, from Seldovia ,AK to northern NY where it’s been snowing on and off For a couple of days, lol.
37 this morning with a high of 77.
A friend of mine that runs the haul road up there, sent a pic of his thermometer in the truck yesterday..... -50. He said that, along with the fog was a real long day of driving!!

Balmy 54 in SW Washington today. Very unusual !!! I see many warm records in the lower 48 today.
77° in sunny Austin, heading for 18° in snowy Wasilla. Ugg.
- 40 celsius when I picked up a customer in the Northern Yukon today.
If you never worked with a plane in that cold it changes the sound more like a angry rototiller on take of.
Nice inversion only -22 at 8000 feet - a beautiful day to fly.
It is warming up rapidly in Interior Alaska today. A 953 mb Low in the West is taking on a 1050 mb High in the East...
-1 F in Clarkston WA this morning. My wife and I are originally from Montana. We decided to move here from Tacoma WA because it's like Montana but not as cold.
Hmm.....I noticed her hometown of Bozeman was only 4 degrees colder this morning.
Between minus 35C and minus 40C for the last ten days here. Wind chill around minus 50 this morning. The sun rises (technically) here today for the first time since mid-December but we won't see it quite yet. At my house not until the 15th at least.

84° today, high 20s tonight, low 40s tomorrow. Texas winter.![]()
One airport + flying acquaintance got back from a hunt in Texas. Said the snakes were in their holes due to the cold temps. Alaskan snakes are active to -40F which will be here next week. We'll send that cold south in about 10 days w/o our snakes probably.

-8 this morning with -23 wind chill, pickup didn’t start, required battery charger and either to get tractor to start. Got feeding done with cold toes and cold fingers. Colder tonight with no wind, therefore no wind chill but no windmills turning so have to break and pitch ice so cows can drink water. Love our job and life, can’t wait to go flying! Western Nebraska
-26 here in Prudhoe, was -39 earlier today. It only feels like -49 right now. Great snotcicle weather.
"Always looking up"
Tower MN -27 this morning. Looking forward to getting out of these temperatures. Brrrrrr

Holy buckets! We've been really warm this winter. It was -12 about 11:30 last night but warmed up to -6 this morning....but we're looking at high 20's and ABOVE for like the next couple weeks or so, and just a few weeks ago we were in the 50's!! I'm really getting spoiled! At least we do have snow over the tops of our Muck boots! John

I test flew the Rotax yesterday, after pulling it for a camshaft performance mod. My first ski flight of the year also, so my "workload" was a bit higher than normal. At 9K, the OAT was 2, the engine oil was 223, and the CHT was 119. I was not getting any oil flow at all thru my cooler, best as I can tell, my thermostatis didn't appear to be opening. But, I picked a good day to have this issue as the OAT made it a non issue.
