I would do what Trick Air says.

On the Husky the STC calls for the cable and bungee to be mounted to the forward gear bolt. Click image for larger version.

Bill, Did you need to replace the gear bolt with a longer one to fit the clip?

My Trickairs are attached to the rear gear mount and the motor mount bolt at the firewall. Works great.

Next week is my grandson Paxton 7th birthday. For the first time Im not going to be in town for his cake, so I wanted to do something special for him. Beside the elementary school that he attends is a hayfield of a former dairy farm. Its not great, its uphill and slopes both ways, with a side hill and a couple ditches. I got permission from the old farmer to land there on skis to pick him up and give him a ride home after school. . Got the cub into the field after a couple of passes, which served to light up the neighborhood folk. Uneventful landing and taxi up to the school. I made a sign like a limo driver who waits for you at the airport, and stood outside. Turned out great, he thinks he is a rock star now. good thing I checked with the school secretary, as they got several calls about a plane landing at the school, something must be going down.Good grief.
Happy birthday Paxton, only in a Cub

I'm not eager to cut notches into my cowling, the 2500's on the Husky are the same length and width as the 3500's I have. I think the 3500's weigh about 10lbs more. So I'm not sure why I can't do the same, here's a photo (not my plane) of what I want to do. Tom I'll give you a call when the weather and my free time align.Click image for larger version.

The first thing for certified airplanes is to check the install instructions. If they tell you where to mount the cables you don't have any options, or call the manufacturer of the skis and have them give you a answer in writing. You can't give the insurance company a way to not pay if there is a mishap.

thanks Steve it was fun and didn't cost much. The school is nearly new, a $32 million facility. The access roads are nice and wide, I thought about taxiing right up to the front door, but that is probably pushing it

Thats very cool Jim! Back in the 70's my Uncle was running the Ford Dealership in Calais, Me.
I landed my PA11 on a side road and taxied up to the Service door.
He came out to give me hell and says" the town cops are on here, way from what I heard. Now I dont care WHAT you tell them;" but DONT you dare say you are in here for service!!!"

It is bulky, and I usually stuff it in the extended baggage and not in the bag it comes in. I have the rieff turbo Xp with sump pads, oil cooler pad and cylinder bands. If I plug it in over night with the cowl cover on, the cht and oil temps are 150. Sure is nice to push it out, Fire it up and go.

    Doesn’t this look like fun?

Ok, time for some ski fun. Plenty of ice in the Adirondacks so let's meet for breakfast at Speculator at 9:30 Sunday morning. Looks like a CAVU day. I think its good for wheeled guys also as very little snow. I have my scout Jeff getting ready to go out and give a wheel report this afternoon but pretty sure it's fine. After breakfast we can explore the rest of the Dacks. Gas is available along the way on some lakes, 91 efree and 100L.

Ok, looks like the main trail that the sleds have packed are ok for wheels. But talk to someone who has already landed before you land if on wheels

Awesome, great pic! I'm working my way home with Matt's new MX7. Hope to make it up tomorrow, it will be a long day, but will be nice to be home. Sitting in Greenville, SC tonight.
Lynn and I picked it up at Steve Pierce's in Graham, TX. It was great meeting him after reading his post and several times he gave me advise in the past. It made the trip.

Just got notified that the Raquette Lake ice harvest will be next weekend Jan 25-27. This is a really cool event. I have only gotten there once and miss it most years. Let's try to get together on Saturday Jan 26, we can do breakfast at Speculator and then go to Raquette for the harvest.

Managed to escape work for a few hours today. Checked out some of the bays near St.albans and then had a nice visit with scooter at northern lights. The air was smooth as glass but the lake was pretty beat up with snow drifts Click image for larger version.

Supposed to rain here too. Most of The lakes up here could use a warm spell. There’s 6” of water covered by a ft of snow, it a big PITA trying to find a place to land and fish

Hi Glen, could you land with 8.oox 6's in Speculator? Don't know what the snow looks like up there right now, but thinking about taking the TwinBee for a ride.

It would do nicely with the gear up on the snow. Stay away from the snowmobile trails. I did it on bare grass, both landing and taking off. A friend in Anchorage had one. He told me about landing in the snow and having difficulty in opening the doors, it was so deep.

Don't risk getting stuck and damaging the gear or tip floats.
