I didn't post any pictures last weekend. On the way to S&J I fly right past Timmy's place, couple miles North. He was flying a couple miles away and saw me heading East. So he had to show off how well his WW prop works. He cought me in a few minutes and then went wizzing by.

How do we know where to park, Charlie

Pete, I recognize that which is why the smiley was up front,
Tim & all, Short term garage right in front of the terminal, park near the overhead walkway to the terminal which brings you close the the stairs to the 3rd floor.
The comp for parking has been a perk the FAA has provided for seminars, this talk being an AOPA event may be different.
Thank you for confirming,
And $60 to land there unless buying fuel, Not for me mate.
Pretty sweet grandpa toys.

Roger just called from Stuart and John's sugar house. He says the field is good for landing this weekend, but the sugar house is closed Sunday. He's hoping the weather will be good enough for people to come Saturday.
Tyson and I can't make it because we have to retrieve our kid from WV.

It's a small world. After the patrol parked farmer Roger came over for a look with the rest of us. We were talking with the pilot and I introduced her to Roger our host. He asked were she was from and she said Alaska. After Roger was done talking I asked where in Ak? She said a little town on the coast, Seldovia. Turns out it's Stefeny who owns and runs the Linwood restaurant and bar in town. I have fond memories from my visit there two summers ago. She said to say high to Stu ( reliableflyer) and Tom (Algonquin) who are both friends of mine and spend summers in Seldovia.

Wow, where were you guys? I’m flying the TwinBee tomorrow and may be able to swing by.

That was Stuart and Johns just across the border into NH, but you’d not be well advised to take a Seabee in there, of any variation.

Olibuilt, do you have any way to cook them that’s tasty? I haven’t had good luck with them. All your Geese have moved down to northern NY for the winter it seems.
Hi Farmboy, I’ve had the TwinBee into my strip, it’s a STOL plane, the only thing is the wing span is 45’ and the north end of my place at the time was only 65’

I did see an Aztec land and take off from Stuart and Johns. The plane is not the limit at this 1 way non airport. The pilot is the limiting factor.
S&J is in a hole with high terrain on one side. The landing aria has double camber, rolling terrain, uphill with a side slope, a telephone pole mid field and snowmobile track marker stakes to avoid. Slick surface too on good days. Tall trees all around and a barn/tank at the top of the hill. There is no well defined landing spot. Lots of bad choices as to touch down spot. There are a few acceptable spots set a wheel down. Yes you will land on one wheel. Once you get past the visual mess, can land on your spot S&J is a piece of cake so long as your plane that can operate in a under a 800 feet and you as a pilot can land in under 300 feet. Just don’t go around. Or expect the brakes to save you.
Most airport type flyers will crash at S and J.
Don’t encourage folks to fly into S&J.
One wreck by a neophyte, rusty pilot or an idiot will hurt or kill some one.
Note my experience at S&J is two trips in with my skywagon. I have watched a bunch of cubs land, an Aztec and a Maule. All flown by skilled pilots who I would fly into the back country with.

FYI, just as a point of reference for readers, that was the little indian, an Apache, which has a big fat wing as compared to the slightly more streamlined Aztec.
If I'm not mistaken the Apache also weighs empty about 2300 lbs, where as the Aztec is about 3200 lbs.
As Bill also noted, that was flown by a very capable pilot as well. He was off the ground in the same distance as my 125hp cub.
pb
That little Indian has 250 hp per side and flown by the most thoughtful off airport pilot I know. One who analyses risk like few, has the skills to mitigate the risk then takes the risk.
He used up every inch of the field, touch down well before the cubs and slid (locked wheels) to the driveway at the top of the hill, using the gravel driveway to finally bring the bird to a stop.
Had he landed a few hundred feet longer or had a few extra knots over the trees he would have been in the cow barn. He knows his plane and used all the tools in the box to make the landing look simple. 99.9 out of 100 twin drivers would wreck in that field
