Sikorski Fishing Boat

For those who haven’t seen it and need a “huh” moment to brighten your day. This is a converted Sikorski S-43. Cut the cabin off, build a transom, and bolt on a couple of outboards. Who’d of thunk? Apparently the guy poured concrete into the hull as ballast. One of many cool old stories at the Alaska Aviation Museum.

Stewart,
When I was a kid back in the 1950's we used to play in the Sikorski 'boat'. It was on the beach at the end of what is now Westchester Lagoon. There was a RR trestle going over the outlet of the lagoon and the Sikorski was on the beach. Tide went in and out back then, no dam. It was great fun to think we were in a flying boat back then!! Memories of youth.
Great it made it to the museum years ago as the tide would have probably taken it out over time.
John
