Alaska Airlines GPS approach dropping out of the clouds right into all the VFR traffic!!

I will bet that is the issue, to many close calls with the jets over Barlow and now in the channel since the new approach has been used. Lots of helicopters in the channel.

For any thinking about flying up here, please comment.

Terrain mandates these areas as low level routes for VFR. This will hamper many of us trying to fly in other than nice days... some help with comments would be nice.

I know many of you know where the jets drop out of the clouds. But here are the profiles and some info bout waypoint crossing altitudes in relation to the airport.

I fly in and out of JNU often and the tower I feel does a good job of separation services. Every once in a while it seems while IMC an issue arises with a fixed wing on the localizer track inbound to RWY 08 or VFR down the channel conflicts with helos in loose formation.

It’s fun to be sitting at the hold short line with a plane load of pax and point out your 737 as it leaves STVNS. The turn at MARMN looks quite dramatic from the ground. It’s a great show!
