Fantastic shot--glad to see her in the air again! Now, if we can just get the "summer" back in the NE and warm up a bit.....

Hey Glen, are you going to escape the heat and come up this year?
We have had an excellent week of after work flying. Wednesday night to the mountains to see Sawyer at carrabassett valley, last night to the sea for lobster rolls. Dont know where we will go tonight.
Its the best time of year in Maine right now.

There were times growing him up I should have used the stick for other purposes. Well, it seemed that way those years ago. Its really an incredible thing for me today to have my wingman be my
business partner, my grandkids dad, and my best friend, my son Andy

We go out to dinner on Friday evenings with friends. We ended up across the Mohawk river in St Jonhsville NY. Lots of history in the Valley. We still had some daylight on the way home so we did a little exploring. Erie canal lock 33 was built in the 1830s and used till the modern locks were built. We stopped to take a look, still amazes me what out ancestors did with no modern equipment.
Two locks side by side

Glenn, I thought that the Erie canal was still usable. Is there a wider bypass to this section?
N1PA
Pete, this is part of the original Erie Canal. The canal in use now has huge cement locks

These early locks are scattered in the weeds all over the Mohawk Valley. Some are made into picnic areas and some are buried under the brush

Modern canal, lock 17 at Little Falls NY at one time was the highest water lift in the world, not altitude but total lift from one level to the next 40.5 feet

Second lock on this video is #17

If it doesn’t play on your device you will have to go to YouTube to view it. Probably a music restriction.

Looks like you guys had a great time. Looks like Andy saved about $170K and his glorified Champ was a close contender

Was a great day, made some new friends and learned a lot.
Thanks cubcrafters for the fabulous prizes.
and glenn you are correct, Andy cost per smile is substantially under budget. Sometimes makes me think he is onto something.

They have cut the alfalfa in the field next to the local ice cream shop. Took the spousal unit out last night. She really enjoys the off airport landings.
Some guy going by with this carbon cub on a trailer wanted to get a pic with the real one. Said he hasnt dared to fly it yet, he has too much money invested go figger
