    It should be noted, however, that the stock 170 had a lightweight pilot installed....I think he must weigh in right about 82 lbs. A pretty significant advantage over some of us “healthy” pilots.

    I can think of a well-known STOL pilot who
    would probably compete wearing just his skivvies
    if he could get away with it (plus his headband, of course).

    I don't think the 300 feet got added to my landings. That money I paid the judges didn't work at the contest I guess, just on the published numbers.
