We all Knew this would Happen with Drones

This video from an article on zero hedge: Shows video supposedly taken from a quad racer diving on a US passenger jet landing in Vegas. I wouldn't call it a near miss, but still it's higher than most of us fly and you never know where one is going to show up. A lot of the guys flying these things are attracted to wilderness and the same areas we fly for the same reasons, and aren't necessarily Looking for airplanes flying there.

Go to zero Hedge for the details.

Interesting blur... was he trying to hide himself/herself in the video?

It's only a matter of time... I fly LEO / Medevac helos for a living. We always joke that the most dangerous time to fly is about 11 AM on Christmas Day. That's when everyone is out flying their new drones and RC planes. Usually it's safe by 12 PM as everyone has crashed them by that time!!

I know a couple of young guys who are exceptional camera operators with their drones. I hope to get one of them to take some aerial video of my Cub landing and taking off this summer. Drones in the right hands are very good tools for photography. Watch the screen savers on Apple TV for examples. Funny how some consider all drones bad. Probably most of those haven't been around a good operator with good equipment and seen what these things can do. Me? I like to fly my toy quadcopter in laps around trees in my yard until I crash, then I lose interest. Or maybe I lose interest first, and that's why it crashes?

The more the media sensationalizes the jackass video on Youtube the more copycat jackasses will come out of the woodwork.

They are amazing tools. I love Trent Palmers vids on youtube. Many times we work with agencies that have drones up at the same time we are. But usually there is a quick brief and a plan for deconfliction. No big deal, I'm not worried about the drones that I know about... As stated above the copycat jackasses are the ones that scare m!. And at the end of the day, I know my job will eventually be replaced by drones!

Only a matter of time before one goes through an inlet or a radome.
