Where did you fly today?

What's story about Pacer (spring gear and RV cowl)in the Cam Tom12 thread?
It's an Experimental-Amateur Built Pacer that a friend of mine built as a project and I was lucky enough to buy. His goals were to take an old design and make it more modern and efficient. I think he did a great job - I cruise faster on GY26s than most Pacers do with wheel pants.

Been thinking of something similar. Did a experimental Bushmaster some years ago. Would like to know more about yours. Like most, wish I was younger.

I'm located in the southeast if you're interested in seeing it. It's a beautiful job, but mostly Pacer in nature. The landing gear, cowl, and boot cowl are the biggest differences (pretty big departures from Piper!). The only other thing I can think of off-hand is the flaps reflex a little bit, similar to a Maule.

Oil was 11 degrees when I plugged it in... this might take a while :)

Got my first-ever ski flight in today. Did a few laps at the airport, then went out to play. Didn't really need skis since there was basically zero snow, but it still was ridiculously fun! Have a lot to learn and deeper snow will certainly be a different game, but I sure am excited about the potential for new adventures!

I'm curious about what looks like external stringers on the bottom of the boot cowl on this C170.
Great pics BTW.

It's evolving into the Piper Cherokee with the belly stringers it saw once. Probably not but maybe there's a valid reason.

Good question, and I don't have a good answer. Stiffener there for some reason, they were there when I bought the plane. I hadn't really thought much about them, but recently I have had several 170 and 180 guys ask about them. I will do a little more research.

Are they in the same rivet line as the tunnel above. Maybe the thin skin rivet holes are wallowed out and that was a way to fix it.

Great looking 170 BTW. Looks like a 52 model?

Pick your landing spots carefully (overflow) you don't want to be late for dinner! Have fun!

Short hop out to Hiline lake this afternoon. Beautiful weather! Someone even had a couple nice strips groomed and ready, pretty deep snow with overflow underneath it just off the strip. 20190222_151337.jpg20190222_145908.jpg20190222_153730.jpg

Steve's son Lee spent the weekend with his sister, I flew him home this morning. He had some trouble getting strapped into my plane. Apparently, it was his first time in the back seat with a Hooker, and he didn't know what to do.

Harness, that is.

I think I knew at one time!
