Wolves got the moose out of the brush and in the open. No chance. They'll be back next full moon looking for leftovers. Nothing a few snares and some Manning #9's wouldn't fix.

A buddy came by so I could do a little work on his Pacer and twisted my arm to go fly. This is an old bridge crossing the Brazos River that is no longer used. If you have seen the movie Highwaymen with Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson about the detectives who brought down Bonnie and Clyde you have seen this bridge.

The Highwaymen is an excellent movie - streamed it last month

I always love your photos. Thank you Brad. That overflow looks pretty nasty.

That's a unique, and very cool (pun intended) perspective with I assume a pole mount aft of the tail?
Flying J’s O. Jay Call’s uncle Reuel, who started Maverick Fuel with money he saved renting roller skates, was the founder of Call Air. The Call name runs deep in Star Valley.
He passed away with his wife and passengers in 2003 in a crash departing Sun Valley in his Citation.
Nice piece of history and extremely rare. Thanks for sharing.

Oh so very cool! Where can I buy some of that AI to replace my current personal version? Mine seems to stand for "Absent Intelligence!"![]()
More ice road flying this afternoon on Pelican and Gull.

There are three simple rules for making consistently smooth landings. Unfortunately no one knows what they are.

Never let judgment sway desire, but don’t be stupid about it.
Amazing pictures! I hope to get some of that weather for my arrival up there next week.
Thanks for sharing.

Little Switzerland / Pika Glacier at the 5500 ft level. First time trying an Alpine/Hanging glacier.
Kahiltna Glacier 7500 ft level with Mt. Hunter ~14,000 in the background
West ridge hunter in the left background looking down the Kahiltna
Same zoomed out.
Denali background left ~20,300. Seemed like a good spot to look at the mountain at 10 miles out,
too much closer and you can hardly see the top.

Splashed in a fresh water pond on Cape Cod that should be frozen this time of year.
Skis are collecting dust this winter.
Went for a ride through Bill's neighborhood and found this strange looking work boat obviously digging in the ocean floor just outside Muskeget Island. There's talk of installing a field of windmills offshore. Perhaps this is part of the construction crew?

Also found this interest boat house/hangar? Perhaps this was an airplane hangar from long ago when there were a lot of seaplane commuters from New York?
Sorry the picture is blurred, taken through the curve of the windshield.

Better pictures
Landing area, Blankinship Cove, Marion Mass.Sure looks like a hangar to me.

There is a marine railway at the right side, leaving room for a boat beside an airplane. I've been flying around here for 65+ years and have never heard anything of this particular location. Seaplanes have a tendency to remain off the public's radar. At least around here they do.

Got checked out in the T6 at work, and got to take my first passenger for a ride, my dad. Pretty great day.

That is a cable trenching machine. They have been out there all winter.
Vineyard Wind has a lease for offshore windmills.
The developers are spending money like drunken sailors. Must be good money in electricity.

Not much money in electricity but lots of money in government subsidies. Your tax dollars at work. Like W.B. said if wasn’t for the production tax credit they don’t make a lot of sense! Does it take more energy to produce the wind turbine than what they will produce?

I was trying to say that without going political but now you have opened that up: this windfarm is crazy stunt by the green folks.

Thanks Bill.If the folks saw what happened to our electric rates recently, they would understand.
Is that machine headed out to sea or is it working it's way towards shore? I haven't seen any windmills yet, unless they are over the horizon?

Finally back in the air, watched the ice go out on Gull last night with Debbie.

We took the floatplane out for another DFW lake tour, managed to talk the NAS Ft Worth tower folks into letting us splash Lake Worth. It's right at the end of their runway. Being Navy, you'd think they would welcome water ops.

Had a look at the river ice,, Nenana has an Ice Classic, they sell tickets as a lottery with guesses as to when the ice will go out. A wooden tripod is attached to a clock and when it moves enough it pulls the pin and stops the clock. The prize is over 200k this year. The tripod is in the square area. Looking like it will still be a few more days.

That looks like Madden's on Gull Lake.. https://www.maddens.com/
Yep Maddens, “9Y2” identifier. It’s a public strip. Lots of resort and lake home transients. There’s fuel 10 miles east (BRD) or west (staples). The resort will send a van to pick you up, otherwise a mile walk to check in. Runway closed during winter months unless no snow on it.
Approaching from the south to 31 over Dade lake.
