this is Livingston, Montana. Met a guy here named Gabriel that has a PA-12 I think. I told him about N999MP, and we went round on mods. We cub chat for awhile. Very nice guy. He said he knew a bunch of cub guys, like Steve pierce, Steve Johnson, Doug, etc. He then asked if I knew any of y’all. For the life of me, I don’t know why, but I said “nope.”

Gabe Chandler is the FBO Manager at Livingston and Big Timber.

Good guy.

Mt. Susitna area just for fun. Was wishing for a baby bushwheel and maybe a few psi less in the mains in some of these spots.

Flew the Rebel down to the Gary Beck Memorial Fly-in at Battle Lake MN. Several warbirds showed up to include T-6, Stearman, P-51, Corsair, Dauntlas, and even a Spartan Executive! Huge turn out and when I arrived I was marshalled down to the show entrance. I was the only plane there on Bushwheels. Several amphibs though. So many people there it was difficult getting pictures.

On Thursday I flew the Super Cub to Blakesburg for the annual AAA/APM fly-in, returning to Oshkosh yesterday. As is my usual luck, I had headwinds in both directions. Put nearly 8 hours on the tach. (No-wind time is usually 3 hours each way.) But at least it was bumpy!!

Delivered a 7EC serial number 1 to its new home and hangar south west of International Falls MN. Absolutely a stunning property along the Bigfork River.

Took my grand daughter Aubrey on her first flight yesterday. Went to the Labor Day flying breakfast at Wichita Valley. Hopefully many more flights to come.

Super Cub landing & takeoff from remote area in Alaska

A couple of weeks ago...

These short videos are at a remote location at the head of Sheep Creek, which starts from the Sheep Glacier off of the Northern side of Mt Sanford, Alaska.

Definitely one of the coolest places I’ve ever landed. Why? Due to very remote location and the unique challenges presented by this location. Relatively short, usually a one-way strip, views of Mt Sanford and it’s many glaciers. No other person (other than the other Super Cub with me that day) within probably 50+ miles.

Due to typical down-glacier winds, 99% of the time have to land uphill and takeoff with a slight tailwind. This day was a rare up-valley breeze. The approach over the glacier, then a side slip over the terminal moraine, was a hoot!

Landing:

Takeoff:

Thank you for watching!

It's getting nice in the Ozark

It's been a really busy end of summer and it is about to get really busy as fall starts the best flying here in the Ozarks.

That's a 1974 7GCBC N86969. I put that on floats for it's original owner. Along the way the floats were changed, those don't have the fairings like the original set. It belongs to a long time local sail loft owner.

I think 95% of the floatplane flying in South Eastern Massachusetts is done by you and Steve. That leaves 5% for me.

I'm still trying to figure out who stops in here to play with a Caravan periodically.

I forgot about Sara.
She flies more than the three of us combined.
The Caravan is based at Plymouth and does the Boston Harbor to the Hudson River run a few times a day. She rinses NYC off the big Cessna in the freshwater ponds.
She clearly understands how to fly the Caravan. It performs very well with just one on board.

The Alaska interior color change is in full effect. My lovely bride and I flew up to the Wood River Lodge to take in the colors and enjoy the mountains with a few friends.

Small gathering on the Rainy River/ MN-Ontario border. Red tractors, wheat fields, sweet corn, and perfect weather.

Been some cool mornings lately which is a nice change. Hit about 12 bars in 30 minutes Saturday morning realizing how lucky I am with the playground I have.

Contrary to popular demand, this is why we have big tires, ruts and soft sand. No compensating intended.

Got cooler and windy on Sunday so we spent more time rock hounding than flying.
