Where did you fly today?

It's getting a stripe.... Just had to wait for the paint to fully cure before adding the decal. When can you go play?

I am on vacation all week! Still tossing around the idea of flying east for a bit.

When are you going to do a picture write up of the Kid???

I need to brace myself to relive all of the process photos first...I don’t know if I’m emotionally ready to remember those years yet [emoji23]

Anyone ever land a small island, and then see ONE antelope on it? Happened to me yesterday. Turns out, they are great swimmers, besides being about the fastest animals, the nearer shore was only 1/4 mile away, still, seemed odd.

I was the original owner of this 172. Nice to see it back in the air. I had it on the first production set of EDO 2130s. What a terrific airplane! My nephew had his very first flight lesson in this plane at the age of 3-1/2. He did a great job and made an excellent water landing without my assistance.

Fantastic! Mary has been getting a lot of training use out of the airplane - based at the Wipline base in South St.Paul (to the detriment of her perfect 160hp Super Cub which has spent the summer here at BRD...on floats, in the hangar... sigh...)

I've only flown in 89E once. Delivered it to Anoka.

First time I ever flew a cub, flew from NY0 to Cooperstown and back to my strip, 9NY7. Interesting bird, it’s a J-3/ PA -11 cross over.. it was 88* and DA of 2400’. With 90 hp and two of us in it the first leg sure didn’t want to set any climb records. Hard to get used to seeIng the airspeed so low, but it was fun, looking forward to flying it when it cools off.90FDCAE3-7320-4A26-A63F-FDAEB669D79B.jpeg

I took the cub down to the Seaplane Base strip. Finally got the stripe and Bear on it. The customer will be flying it on Thursday. Looking forward to my next project..... I'll be keeping it. It hurts too much to see this one go.... It turned out to be a real delight!

I have spent the last few flights working out the few minor kinks. The last one was a minor oil leak. I finally tracked it down to the oil pressure fitting. It was loose so the fix was easy! Went out and flew it to be sure and it looks like that did the trick! There was a storm that rolled through late afternoon and we all know how nice it is after the storm. The air was as still as could be and the flight was just perfect.

First medical trip since COVID restrictions started mid-March. Found tailwinds both ways. Coming home was 96 ktas 16K and 5.5 gph. Thought I was going to break the sound barrier at 100 ktas in the decent. My lucky day. Winter weather is awesome!

We did a fly out to Byrd's Adventure Center (51AR) with the OZ1 Flying Club group out of KVBT. Great group of folks, nice mix of airplanes and copters, but not perfect condions (marginal VFR, 30kts winds over the tops of the hills and pretty frisky on the ground at KVBT). Pilots of all experience levels. Fun day! (we chose to go back to the A/C rather than camp in the super high humidity). If you have not heard of the OZ1 Flying Club, you should check it out. This is the kind of thing that can save GA https://www.oz1club.com/

Fun mix of aircraft and a pavillion I had not seen at Byrds before.

The river was low, but very cool to soak in

Lots of impressive looking 4 wheelers around. This is not even one of the fancy one. Byrds caters to a wide range of interests.

This was from Last Thursday. The owner of the cub came over to fly it. I think he was pretty happy with how it flew. We went down to Stanton Airport (KSYN) from the Twin Cities. He did the landing and I got out. He flew for about an hour doing a bunch of landings and went out and did some airwork, slow flight and stalls. Then we flew the Mississippi river back to the Twin Cities. Overall it was a good day and he expects to pick it up next week after the 4th of July. GOOD TIMES!
