I did a quick crane job moving a 46,000 lb. container a couple feet on a trailer, so the truckers could get through the nearby port of entry. When it came time to get paid, turned out the truckers didn't have any Ben Franklins (as expected, I was just jamming them), so I called the guy who had requested my service, and he started to give me a CC #. But I noted his Wyoming area code, asked him where exactly he was, and he said Alpine. Done deal, next morning I flew over there for breakfast (been doing so for going on 40 years now, takes about as long as driving to an eatery in town) got fed, and got cash, plus was offered a float trip down the Snake but passed on that, looked too dangerous! The very next day, over flew an upcoming crane job in the mountains, never found it but had 1.9 hours of fun anyway. This week I'm doing a big job at a Flying J truck stop, replacing every roof top unit, the overhead pic I took last week will help us plan it out. The plane comes in handy, often, in my work, or at least I think it does. I've flown into 3 jobs this year, so far.
I forgot to add, while at Alpine, an X Cub flew in, and Alpine is supposed to be Husky country (Aviat is just down the road 30 miles)! The pilot said he cruises 135 mph at 10 GPH. His only "problem" has been, he has 4 other airplanes, and has only been able to put 40 hours on it in 2 years.
