Where did you fly today?

How long will that firewood last you Glenn

I heat the house with radiant heat from a rice coal stoker boiler from 1953. 30 years ago it took 20 " full" cords of wood in a wood boiler. Now about 10 ton of coal a season (Sept - May still running). So..... 30 years ago the wood in the picture would have lasted about 40 days. I got to where I hated wood. So now I only heat half of my garage/shop with wood in a Hot Blast furnace like the farm stores sell. It's pretty efficient and I only run it the 3 days I'm home so that wood will last all next season. I now enjoy wood again now that I'm not a slave to it, watching smoke roll out of a chimney makes my soul feel good .

Like today

LOL, I know what you mean, when I heated with wood only by Feb. I would have dream’s of the flames coming out of the wood furnace reaching for the wood in my hands.

That’s a lot of wood and work. I burn about 2 cords a season to keep the shop above freezing.

We used to go through 20+ cords a year heating our 1911 vintage house; wood heat only. Could feel the wind coming through the window edges across the room when it was stormy. After rehabbing, added a heat pump in series with the warm air wood furnace. That was a good combination!

I had a pretty good bribe to get good help from the kids though. The deal was once the hay and firewood were all in, we'd go water skiing as much as they could stand.

Bill stopped by today:

Next year Zorra the wonder dog is old enough to get her glider rating but lack of opposable thumbs may be a limiting factor.

The huge thunderstorm that flooded the hangar Friday night only brought the Brazos from 4 feet to 8 so there were still bars to hop for our weekly Sunday morning meeting. There are those cool places you fly to,

Some people seem to get more challenges thrown their way in life, Steve, you are one of those people! I thought that problem was "fixed"!?

When you get the state to dig out the bar ditch and then the gas company decides to dump gravel in said bar ditch so they can park there to check there main gas line and paying no heed to me telling them it is a bar ditch for water, not a parking lot. 4 1/2" up the shop door. It got the entire hangar, shop, paint booth and office.

Friday morning I took the J-3 out for a nostaljic trip over the countryside I flew over as a kid. The flight brought back memories of old friends and long gone people that helped shape my life. That afternoon found me in the back seat of the Champ giving my grandson an introduction to slow flight, stalls. s-turns and cross winds. Landings wer'nt pretty, but I didn't have to take control.

And there you go, walked away and the airplane was reusable, great day with the grandson. I’m so looking forward to doing the same thing,

The No-Stripe Cub Club at SGS is going to need to start issuing memberships for all the cool kids [emoji41]

It's getting a stripe.... Just had to wait for the paint to fully cure before adding the decal. When can you go play?
