It was still only 10 degrees on the return trip home this afternoon.
This was a flight from Cortez Colorado to GrandJunction and back. The red rock area is close to Paradox Colorado. The higher mountains are those around Telluride.

Cessna Skywagon-- accept no substitute!
I would like to ask, since never have landed on ice roads; how is directional stability after you loose rudder authority on landing and again on take off before the rudder kicks in?
Northern Minnesota, might need some skis.

Thanks. Actually that sounds like fun!
Glare ice flying is fun. Now add 2-3 inches of cold light fluffy snow on top and that doubles the fun! Safe crack free ice of course.
Land into any wind on ice. Tires will give some sideways but a ski skeg can grab a hard rough spot and try to twist the gear even going straight ahead.

Not enough ski time thus far this winter, but there are a few months left to make up for lost time! (And never mind that spot in the last picture where I got temporarily buried. I tried to turn left, but for some reason that this rookie doesn't quite understand, the plane veered hard right and up that hill. I decided to pull the power and cut my losses when the plane tilted at a 30 degree angle.)
