I need to get back there. Right behind your front strut is where I spent some of my younger years farming.

Playing in the wind on a Sunday morning on the Brazos River. Got pretty sporty down there in the trees and hills.

Tent hold-down rings made from rocks long ago? Nice place for Early Man to have a commanding view of passing game. Or...someone got into spinning circles.

    Thanks for sharing.
Life is not a dress rehearsal, and is a fatal condition...make it count. It's a good landing if you can still open the doors.

Took a break the other evening and took my mongrels for a quick flight in the calm cool air. We had a hoot out on the Brazos River. That particular tree caused the need for all those patches on my left wing many years ago. Tom likes to play a certain video of that incident. Like any good pilot I have a perfectly good excuse, I am blind in that eye and didn't see the tree.

Best time of year to fly around here! The high desert is a beautiful place. Spent yesterday landing way up high and down low on the river.

What the Sedan really is an unusual underestimated STOL airplane. The wing is huge with ALOT of lift. The original engine is not enough considering the size of the cabin.(Its bigger than a C185!).
A not well known fact was some of them were fitted with 0300 engines with hollow crankshafts and Macauley made a long " Two Position"
Prop" for that engine that allowed the 0300 to develope Full RPM/ Power for T/O that was a huge advantage over the standard much shorter fixed pitch.
A lightly loaded Sedan with the "two position prop" was a great STOL improvement for T/O; and after you leveled off you had the option of moving into full pitch, the system did not have a govener, so it wasnt actually a "constant speed". Had Aeronca had 0360 engines to install in
them originally their sales would have been thousands vs hundreds. Great old airplane. Saw one land once and 9 bodys got out of it!Click image for larger version.

Watching the ice form yesterday. North Long, Round and smaller lakes froze over. Gull, Hubert and parts of Pelican still open. Lots of Buffleheads and Swans about.

I've been giving Commercial rating training to the owner of this plane... it is an awesome panel in an older (completely rebuilt) 182 with IO-550... Amazing machine.

I don't want the training to end...

Yesterday not a great weather day, but flew my new to me 90hp J-3 with my 6-4 son who was able to get himself into the front seat. Ive looked that position over, but haven't attempted for fear I would need the assistance of a rescue squad to extract me. soloed an 85 J-3 on 22 August 1965 and hadn't been in one since may of 1966. Fun

I was flying along, minding my own business, when I noticed what at first I thought was a straight tail 182. From a mile away it looked odd for a Cessna.
So I landed to check out this one of a kind plane.
Last one ever built and the only trike / turbine one built. 1984 build year.

It looks authentic. Wether it’s “distressed” leather or “holey” designer jeans, very few things are that. The best part nobody’s mentioned are the Sharpie tail #s.

I saw that on amphib floats at a Cranland breakfast last year. It had a bad shimmy with the nose wheel on take off which needed attention. I heard that it is based in PLY?

Tony and I hit some bars Sunday morning with the Bad LandsTraveler and then met up with Eddie in his Carbon Cub with Larry Vetterman in tow in his freshly completed Javron Cub. My camera phone is on the frits so the only pictures is one somebody texted me of Tony. That BadLandsTraveler with it's 172 wing is an interesting airplane and as usual Larry made some neat inovations on his new Javron.
