I found my toboggan from the late 60s/early 70s up in the garage. I'll put it on the restoration list so Scouter can tow me around Spud Strip on it.

In light of the snow falling today, and expected response, itís a good time to post up the interview with Buford Calloway, who survived that dastardly GA storm back in Ď14.

SOOO can you and Andy make it to Alton Bay this weekend going through B10 on the way?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention to arrive safely in a well preserved body but rather to slide in sideways, well used up proclaiming "WOW What a Ride"

I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to give Grommit a call. Anything, of course, is possible. One thing is certain--I'll be getting another type rating on the snowblower tonight.

Farmboy and 40m dropped in to inspect various projects. Farmboy took the high ground when parking and spanked it on takeoff.

Not on a blue ribbon day like today. 14" of powder, every where we looked was a LZ.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be
found in all corners of the earth."

Then he made the earth round... and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Well you know that someone here knows who that was. There's not that many skis in the northeast. Wasn't me...

    North East winter Fun 17/18

Well, it took 3 tries to get all the right gear to the airport to actually fly, and although I didn't call Guilfoyle since he was going to say "what, nobody works anymore?", I did forget to see if Marky Mark and his Carbon Cub wanted to come out. Oh well.

Here's a few screen shots of me chasing Glenn's little hotrod around the valley. It was a good afternoon for shadow company.

Overshooting Glenn - I'm sure his intercom heard "I'm going to drop the flaps and he'll fly right by" just before this. Pretty sure there is also a FedEx driver that uploaded a video of this from his van somewhere on the internet by now.

We're hard at it as well. A bit concerned I got invited to "the old fart fliers" club for lunch. Glad they don't have a tee shirt

Keep bumping into an old friend from New England. This birthday boy is 85 next week. I have to go to work now, getting bugs on the wings

Jim, I want to know what it would take to get that "old friend of yours from New England" up there for a snow day. Two would be good, but one might suffice. I'm pretty sure I've even seen an RV on skis....

If itís to buy skis Dave, youíll kick yourself for not doing it sooner. If itís for camera equipment, thatís all from a single go pro hero 2, from 2011 I think. The worst part is that Iíve forgotten the password for the Wi-Fi bacpac and I canít turn it on and off remotely.

My other 11 driver friend Frank and i for years played the face game. We both fly the ice a couple times a week. First one would do the circle, next one by the eyes the next the smile.......It's harder then it looks

As long as I can get out of house and off the airport on straight skis, I should be good for at least breakfast.

Just a quick off topic question for you New England guys. Im getting ready to pull the trigger on some airstreak tires for my plane. They will be going on my 100hp t-craft and canít decide between the 26 or 29 inch. I mostly fly into cow pastures, bumpy hayfields and would like to start landing on some sandbars. Iím also curious how bigger tires handle snow drifts on the lakes, my 800x6 tires get very exiting at times. I put Skis back on today but hoping to have new rubber by spring mud season.

I got prepped, had a runway, but never got vis. Felt like JP. Shackled to the county.
    That waffle looks good.

Whatís the story behind the Amish breakdown/incident? Low Visibility and icing?

I'd recommend starting your own thread on that. You'll get a lot more opinions. I'd personally recommend the 26s but that is just an opinion based on what people are using around here. Not from personal use.

Sprinkles most of the day at 33F. Wife and I went for a drive after breakfast and we went to a couple place we fly over. I re discovered how much fun this is to do in a car again

    Amish lumber yard. Impressive place

    Amish grocery store

How often you get to see 5 handsome mules. You think starting your snowblower is tough, how'd you like to get this engine together and started going in the right direction?

Most of the Amish around here moved up from Kentucky and Maryland, most of the kids discovered how much fun the cold brings. They love hockey

Peter, Amish DWI, horse refused a breath test, he was chewing on a cherry tree before the vet got there kidding, they we're ice fishing on my float pond

    Fun day

Thanks on the recommendation for the 26Ē tires. Ive done a lot of searches on this site and the t-craft site and found that most people regretted not going bigger. Iíve decided to go with the 29s and if they donít work the way I want Iíll sell and get the 26. Thanks again. And if anyone flys into kfso on skis watch for the 12ísnow bank when landing on the turf runway 1

Pay particular attention to minimum fuel quantity in the main nose tank with large tires & Taylorcraft. Local lost power on takeoff in a similar configuration due to unporting the main outlet with low fuel, 29" tires, high takeoff AOA, and maybe inertia of the fuel onboard to the rear. Taylorcraft recommends 3 gallon minimum with their approved tires. You'll be experimenting with anything taller so pay attention.

BTW he glided back to the remaining runway and no harm. Even unported while taxiing he told me later.

Thanks Gary for the advice. Iíll do som testing at a safe altitude when I get them on. It surprises me how high of a aoa and slow I can get it to fly with full power. I havenít tried it yet with less than a 1/4 tank but when the skyís open up again Iíll give it a run. Weíve been having what I call company weather, while Iím stuck at work itís been blue skyís and calm winds and as soon as the weekend comes itís snowing, raining or 20+mph winds.

I have 6 gallon tanks in each wing. I usually just run my 12 gallon main tank when flying locally. Iíll fill them when Iím headed somewhere, I can get to our family farm and back (300 mi.) and still have a hr of fuel left. By time Iím low on fuel Iím either frozen or cramped up and need to stretch my legs anyhow.
