North Pole
Santa's Elves have done it again! While the snow was swirling, my Elves met for soup and good cheer, decorating Santa's Super Cub for my Pre-Christmas flight tomorrow to the Lino Lakes Airpark and then to Park Rapids, MN. Ho, Ho, Ho!

Here are some photos of Santa's Super Cub, and I hope you enjoy them.

Oh, yes, i'm making my list, and checking it twice, so be sure you are being nice!

Merry Christmas!!!

Super Fast!

Fantastic highlights there, and what a cool operation.

Hope the weather is great for all of your mercy flights!

Will 'Grandma' Julie be photographed in her 'Mrs. Clause' suit? (Guessing it will be a full body down jumper?)

SJ, I'll pass your kind note to Randy when I see him, Ho, Ho, Ho!

Yes, George, Mrs. Claus will be wearing her Mrs. Claus suit, but Oh, my, would you believe that she is a bashful little thing?! She points out to Santa that Santa's helpers all have terrific imaginations to Believe in Santa, and that they will just have to use their imaginations for many other things, too! Ho, Ho, Ho!

Well, I've got to get to the airport to see if the Elves have the Super Dooper Cub preflighted and ready to go!

I'll update you soon! Have a great day, Super Cub Boys and Girls!

Super Cub Santa (and a bashful Mrs. Claus)

Be careful out there Santa, Temp and Dewpoint mighty close - even with Rudolph out front!

The whole area there looks a little iffy Santa. A little better to your NE. Hopefully that is the way you are heading. I hope the weather improves before you have to depart.

Have fun Santa. Sure wish we could have made it up that way for some pre Christmas cheer!

Ho, Ho, Ho! Well, Santa had two terrific Fly Ins on Saturday! I will update you folks with photos later today! Ho, Ho, Ho!

Boys and girls, Santa was really happy with the way his Super Cub flew, and was REALLY thankful for his Garmin 796 with all the bells and whistles it provides him! The weather was not the greatest, but thanks to your thoughts and prayers I made it to Lino Lakes, then to Park Rapids to see those beautiful children and their parents/grandparents/uncles and aunts! Ho, Ho, Ho! The Christmas Spirit is alive and well in Minnesota, as you will see from the photographs!

Santa's helpers, Randy and Julie, had to drive back from Park Rapids because the weather was too low for them to ferry Santa's Super Cub back to KANE, but they did so and enjoyed yesterday with their children and grandchildren. Randy will update with photos tonight when he is finished seeing couples who would give anything to have the joy and beauty of children. Santa is wishing this to be the last Christmas for each of Randy's patients to be without children.

Will send photos soon!

Santa

Well, Santa had to get a special VFR clearance to depart from KANE...a clue to the rest of his flying day!!!

After a low pass (to make sure the runway was clear, you know ) I drove my Super Cub into Lino Lakes airpark, and the children, they were a'waitin!

IMG_1181.JPG

One of the first of the children to greet me was Max, the inspiration for the very first Super Cub Santa flyin back in 2009. Max was 3 years old then, when his grandpa Ron (Randy's best friend), was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Ron wanted to do something special for Max, his adopted grandson, that Christmas and Ron and Randy decided to decorate Randy's super cub so that I could fly it Lino Lakes airpark to deliver gifts to Max and a few of his little friends...who were also adopted. Here is Max (who still believes in Santa) greeting me as I exited the Super Cub...
IMG_1153.JPG

Inside the hangar we went, where I gave gifts from my elves, to the children who were waiting inside...
IMG_1156.JPGIMG_1157.JPG

You may remember that last year Santa was asked to pay a little bit more attention than usual to Brea, a little girl who was badly handicapped and who was wheelchair bound. Sure enough, Brea was back this year and she was soooo excited to see Santa, and she had a special treat for me. Her Mommy and Daddy had arranged for her wheelchair to be equipped with a special computer that enabled her to communicate with Santa! Sure enough, the computer took signals from her eyes (which were glowing!), typing letters, composing words. "Thank you, Santa!" from Brea made ole Santa tear up a bit, I must admit, and it made all the hassles involved in getting my Super Cub ready to fly seem trivial. What a heart warming moment...

Santa then flew back to KANE under special VFR to pick up Mrs. Claus, and off we flew to Park Rapids, where a crowd of 100 plus children awaited with their parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts! Into Johanning Field (an airstrip on the Johanning's farm) we went, landing to a cheering crowd of admirers!
IMG_3361.JPG
Santa always chooses to stop for a moment and ask the children "Who was the person who was born on Christmas Day, whose birth is the very foundation of Christmas?" "Baby Jesus!" the children shout out and with that we moved into the beautiful workshop that is warmed and filled with gifts, a beautiful Christmas tree, and a really nice trailer upon which I could give gifts to the children.

Inside the workshop at Johanning Farms was a warm place be, filled with a community of people who truly care about each other...

We began by singing "Jingle Bells"...

The children then came up onto the trailer to receive their gifts, and have their picture taken with Super Cub Santa...That Be Me!!!

I must share a little story with you. Two years ago Santa was given an amazing gift at the Lino Lakes Santa Flyin. It was there that he learned that his daughter, Brianne, and her husband were with child! Santa shed some tears of relief and happiness that day, and it was such a treat to be able to have Brianne bring Santa's grandchild, Annabelle, to the Lino Lakes Santa Flyin. Here is a photo that someone took of Brianne and her husband, shortly after they placed Annabelle on Santa's lap! Please zoom in to see how happy Annabelle was!!! ...Santa doesn't please everyone...

Well, thanks to Santa's Helpers, we were able to give gifts to about 50 children at Lino Lakes, and to about 100 children at Johanning Farms. Santa's elves did a terrific job getting the gifts ready, and our Super Cub Santa Ground Crew was extraordinary!

There will be more photos coming, but I wanted to give you an update on our journey Saturday, and to reassure you that the Spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Minnesota.

Merry Christmas!

Santa

I’ve been on this forum for several years and I find myself waiting for your annual Santa post since I first noticed it. Simply put, thanks Santa! And special thanks to your pal Randy (and Julie) for helping you out. Sure looks like you had fun.

Randy, you are the kind of person that we should all strive to emulate. I'm honored to know you.
ps. Did Julie stay warm?

Thanks, Tom, I appreciate your comments and your friendship. Thank you.

Julie stayed warm, partly because of the temps being in the mid-20's, partly because she was wrapped up in a down jacket and blankets. I'm working on other solutions that were mentioned in that thread.

Whew, it was a mad dash at the last, but ole’ Santa is in his sleigh, taking a moment to write this note wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas! (I know, it is not OK with the FAA to write emails while airborne, but WOW this new autopilot is OUTTA THIS WORLD!)

Don’t forget to put out a few carrots for the Reindeer, and Santa won’t turn down a cookie or two, nor a glass of milk! Ho, Ho, Ho!

Santa wants to thank you for being such good girls and boys this year! You made this year’s Christmas very easy!

Please be safe, hug your kids and grandkids and nieces and nephews a LOT, enjoy the Beauty of Christmas, and please don’t forget the true meaning of this glorious day!

Whoops, the autopilot just let me know we are needing to descend, so down we go! Ho, Ho, Ho!

Merry Christmas!
