Yup, battery tools have changed my life. I use screws for fastening almost everything. I'd rather screw 2x4s for bracing than nail them, etc.

I'm using lots of nut plates and screws. Life stays simple.

If you have to do any repairs in a remote area, you might be stuck with hand tools. Just something to consider.

I use a good old 1/4 drive speed wrench where room allows during shop work rather than a conventional screwdriver for most handwork. But the power of the battery is delightful.

For me, one benefit for living with an EX plane is I can use Torx head screws and not need to deal with stripped out Phillips heads.

    A template,
Back to working on the underbelly, the other day I made the stainless crosspiece that defines the shape of the center area.
This morning I clamped a length of aluminum welding rod, grabbed a piece of sign board and marked my desired curve for the outer section of the belly.

Trimmed this out, checked the fit, and replicated it for the other side. I like it.

It looks like I will be able use this shape going back the next three bays before the radius starts tightening down.

This will also be what I will make my tooling for the aft lower boot cowl when I get to that.
