After watching the boyz from Syracuse demonstrate them it would be my pick of anything in our inventory. They used to " play " in the little valleys by my house trying to hide from the boys at Griffiss.
Damn cool video. Brought back a lot of memories of the era and my Uncles off to war and my Dad getting ready to go. I guess all of us Cub pilots tend to have a soft spot for the A-1 and the A-10. Our kind of planes.
One of my all time favorite aviation books is , My Secret War, by Richard Drury. It is about flying the A1 Skyraider "Spad" in SE Asia and the Sandy search and rescue role. Great read by a guy that truly just loved flying.
Back to the Hog. Steve Phillis was a mate of mine at England AFB. He lost his life during Desert Storm trying to protect his downed wingman. No greater love has a man.
