    Fishing at JC

Bringing the old man with me to JC this year. He'll be fly-fishing. Me just casting spinners into trees and rocks. Thoughts on the best places to go and what tackle to use? Thanks!

    You might try calling the
Wapiti Meadow Ranch at Phone: 208-633-3217, they are just up the creek from the airport and offer fly-fishing trips, they might give you some tips

    andrew,
Kyle fished a few years back up on the north end at JC and caught several small rainbow's, out of state license wasn't much but i think this time of year it was catch and release.

Phillip, Wilbur just about went noodling at night once, remember that? . Good thing that fence was there to stop his high dive.

Remember it well! Good times. Thanks for the Wapiti info. Will give them a call. Of course, there's always Galen's books.

I've had pretty good luck in Big Creek at Cabin Creek. Walk down from the airstrip to Big Creek. Better luck there than at Vines, but the river changes every year, so YMMV. Part of the problem with Vines is moving around - there is no path on the airstrip side of Big Creek.

If you go out to the road and then travel back (up - down whichever) to the center of the runway and take the trail (ATV road) up the hill and stay to the right you will come to a great catch and keep lake. You can check it out before you land. Jerry B.

It's a short walk for Jerry, and a loong walk for Gunny as I recall

6 up 6 back - that's why they call them "12 mile trout". About a 2500 foot change in elevation too as I recall. But they taste so good.

You have a good memory SJ - that was 2008 as I recall. These days I am walking about half of that round trip every day - I bet if I went again it would seem a lot shorter. Jerry is right its a great little fishing spot and a nice hike. Shhhh - don't tell anybody.
