A plane has crashed on Seward Meridian Parkway, near Wasilla, according to Troopers and the National Transportation Safety Board. It was reported at 8:30 a.m.

NTSB spokesperson Clint Johnson says there were no injuries, but the plane, a PA-18 Supercub, suffered substantial damage. The uninjured pilot is believed to be the only person to have been on board.

Megan Peters, spokesperson for the Alaska State Troopers, says the crash happened near Image Audio, which is on Seward Meridian Parkway, between the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Bogard Road.
Johnson, with the NTSB, says it appears the crash happened on takeoff. There is an airstrip in the area.
Peters says the road was closed at the scene for over an hour, but crews have since cleared the highway

Pilot Jeff Burwell took off from his home about a quarter-mile away, headed for a weeklong hunting trip on the Kenai Peninsula. But his Super Cub never got high enough in the frosty morning air, Burwell's wife said.Instead, as Carol Burwell watched, saying "No, no, no," the plane's left wing clipped a light post in the parking lot of a nearby Image Audio store and dropped.
It narrowly missed overhead power lines, bounced once or twice, then bumped over a curb and came to a stop in the road,

The building holding the airport maintenance grader. Account in Alaska Dispatch said he was landing across runway on ramp due to crosswinds on short taxiway/ramp & hit airport maintenance grader storage shed.

What a small world. I trained the original owner of N1592F for his seaplane rating, in that airplane, in the summer of 1966.

FAIRBANKS:
NOTE there are conflicting reports as to the aircraft type
.

One person is confirmed dead after a small plane crashed during take-off at the Fairbanks International Airport about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Angie Spear, division operations manager for the airport.

The three people on board the Cessna 172 were all transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, Spear said. According to Clint Johnson of the National Transportation Safety Board, one victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Identities of the victims weren't available Thursday evening.

A flight controller observed the plane take off and make a slight left turn, Johnson said. Then the plane went down, he said. He described the crash investigation as preliminary.

The plane crashed at the south end of taxiway C. Spear said the cause of the crash is unknown. There didn't appear to be an aircraft fire, she said.

"Everything to do with the circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated currently," Spear said. Aircraft fire and rescue officials responded as well as city and university fire and police departments, she said. The National Transportation Safety Board was on scene Thursday evening

No injuries after aircraft experiences landing gear failure in Homer

No injuries after aircraft experiences landing gear failure in Homer 1 hour ago

The landing gear on an Era Alaska aircraft failed when the plane, with 15 people aboard, hit the runway at the Homer Airport Wednesday afternoon.

There were no injuries when the Beechcraft 1900 landed and its wheels collapsed around 3:30 p.m., according to Clint Johnson, an investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board.

Johnson said there were 13 passengers and two pilots on the plane flying from Anchorage to Homer.

NTSB is currently investigating the crash, Johnson said. He said they will likely pull the cockpit voice recording and review that information.

RE: Homer Gear Up:

Yeap and at least 3 local bums ran to the hospital looking for a disability or pay-off.
You can't throw a handful of welfare checks around this town without hitting a couple disability fraud cases who are jogging by while you are heading to work.

I just came back from the airport. The plane is still there and they raised it up onto the landing gear.

The props are carbon fiber and all the tips sheared off and turned into thousands of little pieces all over the runway.

It was on its gear and then the gear was " retracted " shortly after touch-down. The blades tuned into confetti as the plane slid along on its belly.

One local woman who claims she was on the plane was telling the newspaper about how she heard the tires blow out and how she saw smoke from the burning tires as she left the plane. Obviously she invented all that in her little pumpkin head.

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...-terrifying-collision-and-chaotic-plunge?lite

The cameras strapped to the skydivers' helmets were supposed to memorialize their perfectly timed jumps and exhilarating descent from two small planes to the earth 12,000 feet below.
Instead, the footage filmed by five daredevils shows the terrifying moment when the aircraft collided above Wisconsin, flinging parachuters into the air like plastic action figures and sending one plane into a fiery dive across a sunset-lit sky.

Good news on the bad news page. Truly the coolest aviation miracle since Sully Sullenberger.

miracle??? Anyone on this site could have done the same thing. The runway was unlimited in dimension with good approaches. The landing gear was up for low drag. And the wind was light for no turbulence. It was a perfect day for a students first solo. He did forget to close the outflow valve so that the plane sank sooner than it should have. The fortunate thing is that no one got more than their feet wet.

Assuming you are not joking - If we are talking about this accident http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...moment-team-skydivers-forced-fiery-plane.html then lets agree to disagree. The fact that all nine skydivers are alive is amazing to me. Also that a two jump chump made it out of the chase plane ok is sort of amazing. Glad they all survived a mid air. It's rare that they do.

Take care - Jerry

I was not joking. I was referring to your comment about Sullenberger in the Hudson. That was not a miracle.

Never seen someone so offended by the word 'miracle.' Your location explains it though. Yes you can.
