Life in Alaska isn't always easy, but it has its rewards.
Be there or be square. This is a Cub fly in, but if you got other bush planes you are welcome. Whiskey drinkers bring your tent. See attached files if you are a Cheechako Visitor. There is a 1000' there so if you can't make it into that you don't belong. No Cessna 150s, 120 or 140 OK. Retrieval costs are market rate.
Printed Flyers of PDF will be at West Coast International meet and greet tonight at 6.

185's make even better wood haulers...even into those cub strips...
185's are totaly doable on this strip, and they can haul a lot more. Hope to see you there. Ron
First of all it's a super cub.org get together and a not neessary a cub fly-in or let me set up the fly-in and camp site and see how many cubs have problems getting in who aint use to rocks, or angled short strips(sorry but your elitest cub attitude, rubbed me wrong.) Dont get me wrong, Im building my 12 year old daughter a super duper lite weight cub, and that whats its about pounds per square inch and then skill. The actual strip is about 750 feet dropping over the bushes on a left hand turn with the first 100 feet being small rocks. Any decent off field pilot can land a 150, 152 or 172 on an average day. Scooter, if you show me a place your cub can land back at knik at gross that my non cub cant at gross I will call you the man and wash your airplane.

The "Strip" in question does not have big rocks, and is LONG!! A 172 with 6.00 tires could easily negotiate this "Cub Only" strip. But, Terry... The challenge that your Citabria will out fly a Cub with the same weight is a little off.Your gonna be a Cub washin' sumbitch!!!!

84Zulu, did i say same amount of weight or at gross? And way i read it was dirrected at scooter, see you all wednesday nite![]()

Kinda funny the guy with a -12 would say cubs only????
darn scooter, some days they just won't stop try'n to tear someones a$$ !!!!! maybe he owns a pacer and was just feel'n left out!! and i don' have any problem with other a/c,if it flies and ya'r happy so be it!!
jr.![]()
Not trying to tear anything or anyone. I just found it funny that someone would say its a "cub" fly in, and make a fellow with a 140 feel unwelcome. A -12 as well as the 14 were never cubs in pipers eyes. They were, are, super cruisers and family cruisers. The "cub" was for j-3 and the many variants of the -18. I don't care what you fly. Just fly
Sheesh, you grade-scho0olers.
...The way Scooter punctuated the line, it means 150's are unwelcome. Probably for their own good.
This almost as good as the last thread, and almost as good as the old ladies Desperate Housewives.
I don't see much to dispute. It was suggested a PA-12 was never a Cub in Piper's eyes. It certainly was in their ads. As a PA-12 owner I'm not too concerned about it either way. I refer to my plane as " the Cub".

Sound's like there's one of those secret squirrel gotta know all the right people to really understand it grudges lurking around here.......
PS: If I can get bushwheels on the Bonanza is it a Cub????????

Ok, first of all Everyone is welcome. You guys know your own skill level, and there is plenty of room at the strip. That being said, if you come out, and dont like the look of it, there is another strip just south of this one that is even longer. You could actually taxi back to this srip. Anyway, enough of that. Im thinking about hauling some wood out tonight, if anyone wants to join me, that would be great. Hope to see everyone there. Ron
Well, I stand corrected. I thought piper referred to them as cruisers. I can admit when I'm wrong.
Thanks Ron for setting this up. I hope I can make it. It is real nice that you took the time to get this lined up. I may be flying the 172 or the 152 instead of the HE-1. But, I can get in there pretty good. I'll usually land on the strip just to the north with the light cessna equipment because it is a little smoother. That big dip in the middle of the pic-nic strip is a killer on nosewheel airplanes. The 120 and the 140 last year seemed to go into the 2nd strip to the north and a short walk later we were at the table. We did this because the strips were dryer as we went north. The 800's picked up a little rock and dinged the paint on the tails. If that is not a concern, have at it. I also wanted to note that a locked wheel turn will still results in a sinking of the tire as of yesterday (800's). The brush has a little grit in the leaves yet so if you power through a bush it'll take a little paint off the prop.
Last, be careful of the ultralight traffic. Although beautiful machines with cub-like performance, they are incredibly hard to see. Even with eagle eyes like mine and my quick gazelle like reflexes I still have managed to take a few out. Well, in my mind I took them out. J.K.
So, If you see the big 172 show up, thats just me wanting to be with the cool guys. Take care Bro.

I am tired of the new rash of crap in this post and other posts. Add me to the list of long time posters who are leaving the site. Don't know if it will be permanently, but I am definitely wont be coming back on here for a while. That's after 8 years nearly to the day of membership, and 649 posts. Thanks Ron for your efforts too in organizing things, glad they didn't rip into you. Have a fun meet and greet. Sorry SJ.

I hear what your saying Mike, I have noticed it getting pretty bad on here. I too have been given a hard time on other subjects, and have found it best to just not worry about what everyone else thinks. I hope you show up to the Flyin. I was hoping for some good video footage again. I may take a load of wood out tonight or tomorrow. Hope to see you there, and thanks for making the fliers for me at the get together. See you Wednesday. Ron
Mike, Ron...
the good thing is the site got huge.
the bad thing is that we no longer know each other
and don't know the personalities of the posters.
so when a disparaging word is dropped by an "old guy"
about many of the "old" guys it is taken by the old guys as just a
soft jab...
After we get to know the new guy we can understand his apparently
insulting remarks instead of thinking he is just another idiot.
did I say all that right...?? This may be the Dewers writing this...
anyway, Mike, don't split. We need you and all the " old guys ".
Sorry, it wasn't meant to be personal!! Just a observation that some airframes were not invited. I didn't know that the folks here were so thin skinned and would take it personally. SB has schooled me and I have admitted that I was wrong in the 12 and 14 not being cubs. We could meet and I could give you a hug Mike if that would make you feel better.
I dont like all the bickering so I joined just to get this post back on topic. We, in the aviation community, are a dying breed so I dont like it when aviators fight amongst themselves over stupid stuff.
I would be up for hauling a little wood into the strip on Tuesday after work if someone needs help.
I didn't get out tonight, so tomorrow a friend and I are hauling in some wood, but if you have some more, that would be great. Probably be back there around 7:30 tomorrow night. Leaving from Anderson lk. and Wolf lake airstrip. Thanks, Ron Kuzina
I got a bunch of pallets I could cut up tomorrow at work.... errr, I mean after work (just incase boss sees this). I will try to see you there.
Wood has been delivered. Thanks Mike for the wood, and thanks to Brian, Kurt, Ben, Terry, for helping haul/stack wood at the strip. See you tonight. Ron
Winds are coming up I hope we can still go out there this evening.

I think its a no go tonight. Just came from palmer. 19 gusting 29, and a lot of dust. Sorry it didn't work out. If its nice tomorrow, I'm game. Ron
Out on the Knik now. Wasn't sure which strip was the plan as i didn't see any wood at the picnic table strip below the inner lake or at the one more out in the open. Didn't want to start setting up camp at the wrong strip. Wondering what folks are up to?
