    Un-frappin'-believable!

Just watched a gal by the name of Jo Piazza on T.V. She is the author of the just released book "Celebrity Inc." It's about how people like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian get paid scads of dough for doing absolutely NUTHIN' other than "tweeting" or just showing UP at some party for 90 minutes!

$10,000 per "tweet", up to a hundred grand to just "put in an appearance" at the "Hard Rock" casino in Vegas or something.

And they don't even have to WRITE or POST their own "tweets"! The product manufacturer does it FOR them!

So, if you get a "tweet" from Paris Hilton saying "Wow! What a way to start my day! I just got up from getting a great night's sleep on my Sealy Posturepedic mattress and now I'm eating a delicious bowl of Fruit Loops cereal." Take just a moment to contemplate the fact that a talentless bimbo just "earned" more money doing NOTHING than most of us make in three or four MONTHS.

And here I'm letting you guys get CloudDancer FaceBook updates (and soon I will even learn how to "tweet" myself!) for FREE! Zip! Zero! NADA!

Man! I gotta' go "hook up" with Cessna or Sporty's or the people who make brown paper bags or SUMTHIN'. I'm gettin' HOSED here!

    Hiya Ruffair -

I wuz trying to come up with some clever punny comeback about a much smaller brown paper sack in reference to your response. But everything I could think of was far to risque' for a family forum such as this. I'll just have to try using...naaaah. Can't go THERE either!

I was like, you know, surfing the web for cool places to let folks ogle my body, and I, like, found this sight: shortwingpipers.org, and it was, you know, so, sort of cubby but with only part of the wings...

they even talked about these stories that were, you know, like, tales of a texan in Alaska. He was a real dud, er, stud and chased all the girls around in Alaska...

but, like, are there really girls there? And how do they plug in their, you know, hair driers in the igloos? The pilot goes by 'CloudDancer', cause, like, he was always out dancing and flying in the fog...

    Hey Cloudy-

Did you ever pick the ski photo winners from the "WIN A FREE COPY of the soon-to-be-published Vol. IV!!" contest you were running at the end of last year? Haven't seen any photos pop up on the website, so just curious...

If you go to www.clouddancer.org and then select "Book Excerpts" you will find the pictures as you scroll down. One with each story excerpt.

    Hiya aktango58 -

I have yet to ever come face-to-face with Brenda. (Or eye-to-eye, nose-to-nose, cheek-to-cheek or even br...well, you get the idea.) But when we finally DO get to meet, I look forward to whatever....uh...whatever invaluable counsel she may have to offer.

Oops! Well...THAT's pretty dang embarrassing (for ME) now, isn't it?! I get to meet so many people in those two days I can't remember them all. Or maybe....(I can't believe I'm admitting this in writing) maybe....I'm just getting OLD! (sigh)

Hopefully we'll meet up in August and get to spend enough time together for you to make a PERMANENT impression!

BIG WHOOP! Just broke 200 "Likes" on my FaceBook page! Lots of photos and vids there too! I try to split them up so there iz not TOO much duplication between what I post on SC.org and FaceBook. But you'll see a few visuals that you've seen here posted there as well.

Ennywayz...if your a FB regular, and you haven't jumped on board yet, I hope you will! Help spread the merriment!

    Hey you Pacific Northwest SuperCubbers!

Yer' humble scribe iz scheduled to make a feather-soft touchdown on one of KPDX's two east-west runways arriving at the gate a few minutes later at 10:26 A.M. this coming Friday morning, June 29th.(*)

This should have me "ready to ru-u-umble" outta' the Downtown PDX Crowne Plaza by about noon o'clock or so. And I'll have seven hours to kill. I got a 0315 lcl GET-UP on Saturday morning, so I need to be under the blankies by about 7:15 P.M.

I are OPEN to suggestions! Youse can PM me if you got sum!

    CloudDancer

(*) It'll be "my leg" on the inbound. I'll ask approach for 28R/10L jus' in case you wanna' shoot a video of me doin' my "pilot stuff". If I whack it on real good like I did las' night comin' back into the desert ('nuther onea' those damn HABOOBS...desert dust storms wuz blowin' thru...winds 90 degress across at 18 and gusting to sumthin'....) you'd have a real good way tuh blackmail me out of a whole set of books.

'Course the ODDS of me whackin' TWO in a row are...uh....axially...pretty GOOD!

    Cloudy,
Due to my job I too have shot my share of landings at KPDX, although all of mine where in the back of the bus.
As a frequent traveler I have a suggestion for you. Next time you get the urge to key the mic and say "Ladies and gentlemen you will notice that i have turned on the seat belt sign, we are expecting some turbulence...bla bla bla." .
    Instead how about this

" Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, we are coming up on some turbulence and I would like you to know that I have thousands of hours flying airplanes older than your grandpa, into areas in Alaska so remote only the natives know their names. I have written several books on events that happened during my time flying up north. And I've flown thru turbulence so bad the plane required maintenance and I’m here, so sit back, loosen your belt, grab something to drink, cause I’ve got this."

    Cub(IthinkImInTorontoCanada)Chaser

PS; Look up DW while you’re in town. He’s only a short hop from PDX

    Hiya CubChaser -

As the kiddies like to text...LMAO! (*)

I know many of you might find it hard to believe...but I actually have been summoned to the Chief Pilot's office for the obligatory "carpet dance" three times already for my...uh...shall we say...the "creativity" I have displayed in my cabin announcements.

My all time favorite is one I usually use about 2/3rds of the way into a cross-continent flight, when I know the passengers are getting restless and tired of being cramped up. I put on my very BEST "Yeager" airline pilot voice (See Tom Wolfe's "The Right Stuff") and....

"Uuuuh...ladies 'n gennlemens...aaah...from up here in the Command 'n Control center...this...IS yer' Captain speaking. I uuuh...I understand that some of you were inquiring as to our position an' how we are doin' up here. So-o-o I thought Ah'd jus' let'cha all know...uuuh...we're a'sittin' up purdy straight an' doin' jus' fine. Thank yuz fer asking!" (click)

Of course, after about three seconds, I then get back ON the P.A. an' give 'em the straight skinny.

Generally, I make a total of either four or five announcements from the (company mandated) Pre-departure at the gate, to the (again company mandated) "Buh-bye Announcement" (Uuuuh...Ladies an' Gennlemens...frum up here in the Engine Room...) required somewhere between the TOD (top-of-descent) and top-of-sterile cockpit (10,000 ft. MSL) depending on the length of the flight.

Three Chief Pilots over the course of my "airline pilot career" have all taken pains to point out to me during my "counseling sessions" that the company Flight Operations Manual DOES CONTAIN "suggested" formats for the required announcements. Mostly just FOR people like me.

I have every intention of reviewing those at some point. Maybe for my "Retirement" flight?? Naaah. I really don't see THAT happening!

    Cloud(THISizyer'CAPTAINspeaking)Dancer

(*) Wouldn't it be so COOL if one really could laugh their way to a SMALLER ASS!? I'd be skinny as a RAIL again!

    PDX????

I was there two weeks ago!!! sheesh, you are late again!

As far as your Chief pilot goes, since the manual saz: 'Suggested', that depicts a type of phrazology (see that word in the musical: Music Man) for a person to use when they are of the brain hampered sort of which can not adaquietly improv. the meaning of any message without a predetermined wording to follow. (then mention that sort of mind is usually best suited in the office reading and writing manuals and acting official).

Then explain that if the company manual said: 'Mandatory', you would be obligated to include the pre written words of the office sudo-gods, interspersed with color of an improv nature to capture attention of the 100 passengers that have heard the message so much in their lives that they could repete it verbatim...

Note: my advise is worth LESS than you paid for it
