One hour engine removal, tear down, rebuild, reinstall

Because we're not planning to blow them up again 6 seconds later !! ;O)

# One Top Fuel dragster's 500-cubic-inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first four rows at the Daytona 500.

# A stock Dodge Hemi V-8 engine cannot produce enough power to drive the dragster's supercharger.

# With 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into a near-solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock at full throttle.

# At the stoichiometric 1.7:1 air-fuel mixture for nitro methane, the flame front temperature measures about 7000 degrees Fahrenheit.

From a standing start, the dragster spotted you 200 mph and not only caught you but nearly blasted you off the road when he passed you within a mere 1320 feet.

It takes 100 Top Fuel dragsters doing a complete burnout to produce enough smoke to make it look like a shuttle launch........whereas, 15 Texicans blow enough smoke to produce the same effect......

I have seen Patty Wagstaff fly inverted down runway. When she passes the Jet fired truck. He takes off. Passes her at the end. Ammazing
 
We had a friend here that ran Top Fuel for a couple years and because of all the work and expense he switched to a jet rail that the track paid him to show up for exhibition runs to draw a croud out to the track, and that would go over 330mph once in a while, and he was having fun and getting paid every week and just had to polish it and add 20 gal of kero for a fire show and a run. He jumped the guard rails in Hamilton Ont at over 300mph and hit the I beam holding up the score board a few years ago and only lost his right arm and doesn't think that it was his lucky day.

Neat info, but I would bet that the tolerances are a bit larger for the top fuel engine... must be some expansion on the pistons!
 
Man, I've baited him good, the "Red Wrench" must be in the middle of a deal if he's so busy that he hasn't jumped in here.
